I will sit there for 10 or 20 minutes and my float doesn't twitch. But, the instant I; Scratch my arse Adjust my junk Pick up a drink Light a ciggie Stick a finger up my nose to mine for green gold Pick up a snack Have a look at my phone Open chat. Bam, the float goes and I invariably end up juggling an open beer, a cigarette and an open pack of doritos frantically trying to pick the pad up. And just like real fishing, I never learn my lesson and end up missing the bite. Thank God you can't get tangled in trees otherwise my crankbait casualty list would be shockingly high every day. Nothing quite like leaving a £12 lure dangling from a branch, glad the game didn't replicate that!3 points

When you’re ready to upgrade equipment, it might pay to shop around while in the field. Example: Two identical items shown may be purchased for a cheaper amount “On Location” vs. “At Home.” That’s’ a $6030 savings. Obviously, travel expenses, licenses, etc. would factor in but if planned, we might be able to conserve a few bucks when money and/or bait coins are tight. Especially if members see a cheap deal “on location” regarding the higher end equipment and post it here, it might benefit the community. Some items may be included with specific DLC’s as well so it’s wise to read those descriptions closely. Just thinking out loud and thought I’d put this here. EDIT: My apologies, I meant to identify the locations. The cheaper of the two was found in the Alaska store. The other in the home store.2 points

20lb is fine for gar. Bass are a different story, like yourself I'm either too heavy or too light for LMB. XP is no longer an issue for me so I err on the side of caution and go with a Jigwinner SE and 15lb. Maybe the ultimate setup lies with baitcasting outfits? I hate multipliers both ingame and IRL so no idea. The uni LMB I had gave me an awesome fight on a Rivertex Zeus SE and 20lb line when I was going for flatheads. XP is no longer a concern of mine I might add, and those large, um, largemouths still give a great fight on a 15lb setup. 45 minute fights? Wow, I'm all for fairness but IRL that's just stressing the fish unneccesarily. Not a concern if you keep them, and not a concern ingame. But...wow. I'd rather be a little OP and having reasonable length fights than losing anything big after fighting for 40 mins. The way I see it, you either equip for big LMB and accept the small ones get reeled in, or you continue fishing light and having extended fights ( and losses ). It's a game so there are naturally going to be some disparities compared to real fishing ( it doesn't rain everyday for a start ;-) ). I have an interesting link regarding losses while playing a fish if you're interested.2 points

@Jeff, Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give it a shot, lol even tho I lost the big'un made 16k on a 5.5+lb+ full trophy net, so have a lil extra to spare. As for holding reel or strike while fish is running, yea I learned that hard way first few days in lol. Now I just let'em run or at most tap strike (L2) periodically to slow'em down, usually works but if not I just leave it be lol. @ViolentV; I'm sure my 12.1 rig would pull'em in, tho take longer than the 15lb setup you used, but either would result in lowered xp. I'm not worried about xp either, lol doesn't matter if it takes another month to knockout these final 3 lvls imo. Just didn't want it to be a "5 sec" fight & feel unsatisfied after trying for so long. As for the link, sure pass it on man, don't want anything just laid out on a silver platter so to speak but definitely ain't too good to take tips or a lil guidance haha. Thanks alot guys, I have a few options to test now & hopefully stop that big'un from taunting me! Info is much appreciated, wish y'all good luck & Tight Lines!1 point

I use this exact rig still quite often (unless using heavier lure) and you can get it done. Put the 10 lb line on your prima and you'll be able to increase the drag a little bit, more so than you did with the 8 lb line. Also remember in fights like these that when a fish is pulling if your holding down the reel button its easier for the fish to take line. So many people just hold down the reel button thinking it can't hurt to do so when it can make the difference between a fish escaping to 80 or escaping to 150. You can also get a lighter heavier pole such as the aurora to do the job with same reel and line. That pole has a little more strength behind it and doesn't lose experience for bass at Carolina let alone Florida. Also throws the heavier lures the featherlight cannot. It will lose experience for panfish and crappie though. Good luck! If you need exact aurora model say so and ill double check it. Edit: The Aurora 8'2" is the one I use for my heavier lures. It still has light power so it doesn't lose xp.1 point

Actually snagged a 90lb Uni Alligator Gar in La. a week or so ago (courtesy of tips from Mbv & ViolentV), and surprisingly pulled it in on 20lb test pretty easily, guess I got lucky or it was just a fluke haha. I tell ya tho, this 13lb bass is testing my resolve something fierce lol.1 point

If this isn't correct spot for this I can delete & repost correctly. I was wondering if it's possible to install Subspecies leaderboards? Alot of ps4 (& PC) users would appreciate this. Example, Uni LmBs have pushed all subspecies off the boards basically, same w/ Catfish. Is it a big strain on menus/boards to have a category for each species & subspecies? Same could be said for the "Other" category, would be nice to have Drum, Snook, etc. boards.1 point

It's an excellent idea. Many catch a fish of a sub-species and there is no way to tell how it ranks with the rest of that sub-species caught. Also to PH_Trulight's point it will make it much easier in setting up the competition.1 point

It'd also be very useful to those fishing the smaller uni's such as Redband trout or cuthroat trout for example, and trying to see the highest weight caught but can't because the board only has trophy brown trout catches! It can be ....annoying! I mean, when I was at Oregon last week the leaderboard showed only 99 trophy brown trout and the 100th happened to be a uni' rainbow! It's ridiculous.1 point

May or may not be a bug I'm currently level 34 but have been getting very good at catching fish on the drop. Been fishing in Alberta for a while but have noticed it in other locations. If you're lure fishing, as the lure is dropping through the water if i smash the left trigger very fast and erratically I can pretty much catch a fish 5/10 times without reeling in line whatsoever. On the occasions that I don't catch on the drop i catch very shortly afterwards maybe because it has attracted attention? Has anybody else come across this? https://youtu.be/wi7dp1G15CY1 point

Not a bug. You can get them same place just by flicking the lure just a couple of times on it's way to the bottom too. Been on that lake a couple of days now and the 'rubber banding' stuff ruins any decent presentation, so may as well try stuff like this.1 point

Hello Big D, yes I'm not trying to be awkward or anything, but I just feel that the forum competition is the one we entered and it should be left like that. Importing catches from other competitions can only lead to problems about authenticity etc and, IMO, scramble the rules up. Which at the moment are succinct and simple to understand.1 point
