  2. Alright, well let's break this down.... "This Gar O Ween event is joke! Pay DLC for skins that dont do anything? Yea, claim to make game realistic and going to add garbage. " It's a free event, which is meant to be fun. It's free, you don't have to buy the DLC. You can even get free rewards for catching enough of the event fish, that you don't even have to have their event baits to catch. Who cares if they're realistic or not? They're temporary and fun, and it's a halloween theme. "I would rather see an ice fishing dlc with new maps without a price tag." Oh so you complain about the game, yet you want them to make new maps for a game that you don't even like, FOR FREE. No compensation for the Devs? Nice logic there slappy. They do plan on releasing new maps and even european waters soon. As per the Devs " Right now, we are actively working on bottom fishing, feeders, as well as British and European waterways. We already finished a new aquatic complex in Great Britain called the Weeping Willow Lakes and are currently working on Dutch and German waterways. We’ll soon show you a sneak peak of the new location and + 40 European fish species. However, we plan to release all of these features (European ponds and Bottom fishing) together, as one complex update. " "How long in beta? .......Two years and game has bugs that probably wont ever get fixed and people going to give them money for putting in fake fish. (yea the wack fish is free but not the tackle)" The game has very few bugs, and the ones it does have aren't game-breaking. They even recently fixed some bugs that people were having and compensated the community for their errors. More than generous. Regarding the fake fish, they're all fake fish. If you don't like the game, go grab a REAL rod and reel and fish for your REAL fish. "This is why the gaming industry is going down under without the abandoned ship warning." No, people like you who go onto forums and troll/slate developers of a free game that you don't have to pay for and absolutely do not have to play are what is ruining the gaming industry. If you want better content more towards what you desire for the game, show some respect for the developers, maybe even buy a DLC to support them. They need to get paid too. Possibly try cordially speaking with them and making suggestions that are constructive. I've seen you on post after post bashing this game. If you don't like it, don't play and it and just go away.

  4. Thanks for the info guys. Just finished the first day of a three day trip mainly fishing for Peacock and Largemouth Bass, although I did catch a few Gar on small minnows. I didn't buy a crankbait as I'm only level 24 and could only buy a Baitcoin one, which I was loathe to do. I have an Aurora set-up similar to the one ItsShamee mentions. I was using 8lb Fluoro on this rod and sticking to the known Bass spots. My main bait rod is a Nero 12' model which I teamed with 12lb fluoro. I also took my new Brutus and reel (from the Catfish pack) teamed with 15lb line as well as a Farcaster 7' 7" with 12lb Fluoro. Unfortunately I couldn't get a reel to fully suit the Farcaster which is why the line's a little low bs for the rod. Now the Bass and Gar gave me no trouble on the Aurora and Nero, although the two or three Trophy Largemouth were a significant tussle on the former. I did also manage three or four Trophy Peacock on the float. The Largemouth seemed to like a bassjig in the morning, but wouldn't take anything I tried in the evening. This pushed me back to the float for the Peacock and I'm glad I did as that's when I caught the Trophies. I did pop up to the Salty delta in the morning as I noticed a guy there caught a Trophy Peacock and at the time I hadn't had a sniff of one. I decided to try my Farcaster with a red and silver 1/2oz Casting Spoon. First cast I hooked a monster. I had this fish on for around ten minutes and it just ran and ran. Unfortunately the casting reel I was using could only hold 216ft of 12lb Fluoro and after about five mins it spooled me. Luckily I managed to quickly gain line and nothing broke. However, after getting the fish to within 80ft a couple of times it quickly gained line and spooled me again, this time breaking the line and knocking 10% off my rod and reel. Now, the spreadsheet that someone linked elsewhere on here is out-of-date and doesn't hold info for Snook, Tarpon or Drum, so I don't know how big these really get. The bloke next to me had a few Unique and Trophy Snook which I guess could have been the culprit, but I'd be interested to know what guys with more experience think. The fish jumped a fair few times, but was too far out in the sun for me to identify it. Anyway, looking forward to day two, although I have left it at 9pm just in case the Gar-o-ween hits properly later today.

  5. The catfish and gar in Florida are small, so you won't need much to beat them. However, the drum and snook grow rather large ( 40lb+ in the case of at least one of those species ), and the tarpon go to at least 28lb. Seeing as you haven't fished there much and have an equal chance of hooking them all until you learn where they're all located, I'd say go with a Brutus float rod and 15lb line to be on the safe side. You'll sacrifice a little XP sure, but you'll have a decent chance of landing anything you hook, and money is far more important than XP. Bass I'll leave to others as there are some people who spend serious amounts of time fishing for them, whereas I just use them as a pleasant diversion between fishing for other species.

Is it on the loading screen or at the main map ??? The pumpkin icon just replaces the current lil wheel icon thing when loading into game/locations. The glowing eyes are scattered around the location while fishing (at night). As stated tho, the event was only active for a short time yesterday morning then taken offline. Hopefully we'll get word from Devs/Mods soon on when it'll be activated again, but just in case keep eye out for the pumpkin loading icon & glowing eyes. If they're there the event fish should be active.

  9. Probably old news by now, but the PS Store has a lot of additional DLC. I think I'll spend another $9.99 just to get that bitchin' hat and vest as part of the Sport Outfit Pack lol.

  10. Yea need a hat myself lol. Really appreciative that the Devs dropped the DLC prices, at the new price ranges they should sell alot better.

Bugs are expected w/ any online/constantly evolving game. 6 months or 10 years doesn't matter, every update can (& does) cause issues w/ existing code lol. This is well known to gamers, even in online/evolving AAA games (Nhl, GTA, CoD, Gran Turismo, etc.) It's your choice to accept or play static world offline games.

  13. I myself just came off a 3 day expedition to the Everglades, and was without a doubt, the most succesful trip to Florida to date. I fished in one place the whole time using two outfits, and 3 lures. My Aurora 8'2" w/Espira ML3000SE 10lb test, and my Jiggwinner 7'10" w/Espira ML 3500 12lb test. The three lures were, being the max casting weight on both these rods is 5/8oz and 3/4oz, the 3' 3/0 crawlcrank, the 3/4oz 3/0 red devil spoon and 3/4oz 3/0 green watermelon bass jig. I exclusivley fished the Lily Pad channel from the left hand side of the dock and casting to my "right" up the left hand side between the reeds and the lily pad patch, (opposite, and 180 degress, of the boat location). In the morning I used the 3/0 crank, and the afternoon the 3/0 spoon mixed with the 3/0 bass jig. I'm using a technique I call the "double clutch" and the "double clutch stop and burn" lol. It works for me like this. Cast up the left hand side between the reeds and the lily pad patch. Max cast for me is about 180'. Begin your retreive on speed two for a few turns of the reel, and swith to speed one for a couple of turns, and back to speed two (the double clutch). I've noticed there are three strike zones in this area. One at about 125' to 90', which brings you across the point at the edge of the reeds. About 70' to 50', which puts you running parallel along the lily pad patch. And from 50' on into 10' or less of the dock. If you haven't gotten hooked up using the "double clutch" by the time you hit 80' of so, switch to the "double cluth stop and burn", which is the same as the double clutch, but it goes speed 2, speed 1, stop for a second, speed 3 (the burn) just for a crank or two, and repeat beginning at speed 1. If you didn't hook up then, don't give up just yet. I never give up on a cast because I've caught to many fish right at the end of the retrieve. From 50' on in to the dock, mix it up a bit. When using the spoon and jig, I start with a lift and drop till I hit 80', then swith to a stop and go till I hit 50', and then back to the lift and drop. Once again if you haven't hooked up, don't give up, mix it up when you get close to the dock. There was at least 6 times that I caught 10+ bass in a row, and then strike out on a cast, and then catch 5 or 6 in a row, and so on. So the results of this method landed me two Uni's over 11lbs., a boat load of trophies, and just a bunch of bass in general. All three days I was letting fish go one after the other because I was maxed at 330lbs. All in all, three days, about 90 to 95k, give or take.

I know plenty of small Dev teams that don't make a dime unless sales are made regularly (especially w/ F2P games). F2P game Devs live & die on DLC content being purchased, if sales don't add up sponsorships go away & eventually so do the servers.

  17. Each type of gar gives a reward after catching I believe 30 of them as well as a challenge. The Vampire gives a hat I know. The other two give a tacklebox, and a vest. Not sure which is which.

  18. Bit annoying that they activated the halloween fish ( whether by design or accident ) and then pulled it. Was nice to have something new to work toward and a bit of a change from the usual stuff. No doubt there's a reason for it and it'll be back at some point, but to have a brief taster and then be denied the opportunity sucks.

Hopefully they get server issue straightened out soon, if it eats up much time hopefully they'll extend event to compensate for lost days.

  23. What's false about it? To increase by 50% you multiply it by 1.5. Take those numbers on the left, multiply them by 1.5, and you'll see that the numbers on the right are correct. The numbers on the right are what you're getting.

  26. Probably a snook fella, they grow rather large and like jumping. The tarpon don't really fight all that much and fight more like carp, wallowing around. Drum are fierce fighters but I don't recall them getting airbourne much. It's that age old fishing heartbreak - you'll never know Sounds like you've found your feet and got off to a decent start though, well done!

  28. The bigger issue by far is the price of the unlimited licenses. Expiring licenses is the game's biggest flaw and that's what causes the grinding as you have to try and fit as many in-game days into a trip as you possibly can in a 24 hour real-time window. That is hard for casual players to do. On a lake where you have unlimited license there is no problem at all to do 3 or more in-game days at your leisure. Even if it takes a whole real-time week , it doesn't matter as you are not being hurried up. I tested all lakes and all of then without premium and you can easily make up travel costs and make enough profit to do repairs and advance bank balance wise. The only issue is the real-time it takes to do that 3 in-game days with a sword of license expiry hanging over your head. If it wasn't for licenses this game would be a blast , even without premium. My premium expired quite some time ago and I didn't renew it cos it honestly isn't necessary for me. I only fish the lakes that I have unlimited licenses on and the day I started doing that was when I started to have fun for the first time. In my way , 2 hours per night , I enjoy my fishing and are at Rank 5 with 900k in the bank. No worries. But where you don't have an unlimited license , that's where the grinding starts. The unlimited licenses cost must be drastically lowered. That is the main thing anybody in this game needs

  32. If you are going for bass and have some BC (baitcoins) spare grab the 3ft #3/0 Blue and white Crankbait, if you are level 27 and dont have the BC grab the Craw version of it think its 3k? Set it at 2 speed and just reel if you see a fish behind it switch to 1 speed and it will hit it. As for Rod and Reel the Aurora 8'2" and Prima 3500 are the bare min Still give good fights and will get no reduction, as for the line again the Mono.010" is the min to still get full XP and hold its own, you can also use Fluoro.011" but run the risk of your rod braking. If you dont wanna fork out for crankbait use a 1/2oz #3/0 green pumpkin bass jig Stop and go or lift and drop works wonders. I mainly Bass fish there so dont know a whole lot about other species but you can still catch the Gar on the Crankbaits as you can see (it was caught on the setup i just mentioned), Hope this helped Get hooking Another quick note just because it says 10lb line dont mean it cant catch 20lb fish.

  33. if i remember correctly, the 1st time i went there i have jigwinner espira mlr combo..then compete and faught 20 min realtime a snook lol..so with that i think it sufficient..but if you can buy at least basscaster and the yellow casting reel ( forgot the name) it will get you through even if you compete but still have a fun fight with much larger uniques. hope this will help and hope the veterans will give some of their inputs as well.
