  1. So, last night myself as well as 4 other players made a private room and put in some legwork on trying to figure out the Black Vampire Gar in Louisiana. This was with someone whom had already caught one. We tried his tactics first and had no luck. So we went to a spot that me and Violent Vole had tried a few days prior. I had spotted some vampire gar there swimming. We managed over about an 8 hour real time period(5-6 in game nights) 4 Vampires for me, and 3 for Bucky. Now before I get to the tactics used to catch them, I'm going to preface this by saying it's an EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING experience to sit there and watch them swim up to your bait and "sniff" it then swim off over and over and over and....OVER again. For every 100 "sniffs" you may get 1 bite. You'll see them constantly, but they just won't bite. Note that the 2 gar in the picture I'm including were "minnow sniffers" and didn't bite. If this was the intended designed behavior, then there is obviously NO WAY whatsoever that you would be able to catch the 90-100 needed for the reward during the event time period. I'm still giving the benefit of a doubt that they're bugged though, as them "nosing" on your bait and swimming off just doesn't seem like proper behavior. Now on to the tactics. Swampy Open Space peg, all the way to the far right next to the rock and 2 trees. Past the line of 4 trees at the "catfish hole". 30in(76cm) leader, #8/0 hook, Rotten Minnows, 24-33ft(7-10m) out. Cast towards the middle right in between the two trees, but into open water not into the grass as you will get snagged. 27ft(8m) seems to be the sweet spot. After casting, wait until the tension has left your line and twitch your float once using L2 then wait. As I stated in the previous post. Wait just a little bit and if they're going to swim out and show interest it will more than likely be within a short period of time. If not, reel in and re-cast. I generally wait no longer than 10-15 minutes in game before re-casting, twitching using L2 once or twice in that time period if there are no signs of life. Now, the bite will come after they "nose/sniff" your bait. They can do this for up to 10 seconds or so. Then one of two things will happen...they will stick their tail out of the water and "moon" you then swim off, or they will obilterate your bait with an enormous bite. I tried to get a video of one shooting straight up out of the water last night nose first like a torpedo, but it didn't come out. They do not nibble whatsoever like the other Gar, just ONE BIG BITE! Something as a side note...this seems to work better fishing as a group as more casts to the area seem to induce more activity and more bites. It also helps save your sanity fishing for broken fish with someone to talk to lol. I hope this helps, as it took me 35+ hours of REAL time to figure this out. Good luck guys and TIGHT LINES! ******VERY IMPORTANT EDIT!!!******* Edit: Don't start fishing there until after 9:00pm. Otherwise, channel catfish will steal your baitcoin baits! Best times I've noticed so far are from 10pm-11pm, and 1am-3am.

  3. When you’re ready to upgrade equipment, it might pay to shop around while in the field. Example: Two identical items shown may be purchased for a cheaper amount “On Location” vs. “At Home.” That’s’ a $6030 savings. Obviously, travel expenses, licenses, etc. would factor in but if planned, we might be able to conserve a few bucks when money and/or bait coins are tight. Especially if members see a cheap deal “on location” regarding the higher end equipment and post it here, it might benefit the community. Some items may be included with specific DLC’s as well so it’s wise to read those descriptions closely. Just thinking out loud and thought I’d put this here. EDIT: My apologies, I meant to identify the locations. The cheaper of the two was found in the Alaska store. The other in the home store.

  4. Hey anglers! What’s up?! My name’s Yuriy and I’m a lucky guy - happy to be a game designer at Fishing Planet! Being only a casual amature angler, I nevertheless totally get the thrills when my line becomes tense, promising that big catch. Actually, there was one extremely emotional moment that I experienced while boat fishing for pike last fall. And yesterday while playing Fishing Planet I literally had a deja vu and experienced that same sensation, that exact tremor….as I took a kayak into some reed thickets and cast my bait...and felt the line go tight with tension. But you guys know that feeling as well as I do. Right from day one, we designed Fishing Planet as a fishing simulator with boats. All this time, you’ve probably been wondering why we created such huge waterways like Emerald or San Joaquin, with great open spaces that you couldn’t reach anyway. And now, finally, all that great potential is going to make sense! In order to do that we approached the matter with utmost seriousness! Part of the team went out and rented actual kayaks (luckily, our office is located right by the riverside;) to see and feel for ourselves what it’s like to go boat fishing from a kayak. You see, while it may be quite widespread in the USA, for us here kayak fishing was a completely new experience. Many of us were actually riding a kayak for the first time in our life. Those few of our team members who were quite experienced, instructed the rest, and were only making meticulous notes to ensure that the in-game kayaks would behave just like the real thing and that kayak fishing dynamics and mechanics are true to life. As it is often the case, the creation process of one boat type alone turned out to be way more difficult than we expected. This was mostly because our programmers wanted to go the whole way and recreate fully true to life physics of the kayak’s behavior, rather than make a primitive model that would be a very distant imitation. The kayak is propelled through the player’s rowing movements and depends on technique to not turn over or get stuck on shallow shoals. This means that it’s rather challenging to control it and that was precisely what we were after. In the future we plan to improve the rowing system to make kayak controls even more realistic, but even now I hope you’ll enjoy the opportunity to explore the vast open spaces of our rivers and lakes and do some boat fishing, of course! Here’s an insider tip for you guys: hurry up and enjoy your kayak fishing the way it is right now, because in all probability our future updates will feature new improvements to make the catch way more challenging and probably put limitations on the tackle you can use for kayak fishing. After all, it’s not so easy to make a cast with that long telescopic rod while balancing a kayak, right? So what’s next? Why, motorboats, of course! So I hope you’re already looking forward to some dynamic boat speeding action! After that will come new waterway maps and fish finders, of course! We also plan to broaden the scope of possible interactions with some of the boats’ separate elements. And you can definitely expect some boat fishing competitions in the future! Believe it or not, but I’ve been waiting for all this for the last few years! So, what would you like to find out about in our next entry? Ask away, give us topic ideas...and we’ll make sure to give you the hottest inside scoop on what’s cookin’ in our gamedev kitchen!;)

  5. Thank you Yuriy for the excellent insight into the development of the Kayaks. As the Leader of the Pro-Hookers Fishing Club (PH) in Fishing Planet, I am extremely interested in the status of the in-game Club System. 1. Is the Club System still planned and if so, what is the status of it's development? 2. If implemented, what are some of the things that we can expect to be included in the Club System? 3. Also, how would the transfer of our current membership into the Club System be accomplished? Thanks again from PH for all the efforts of the team. PH_Hilrond

  6. So they check the (badly) ported code, instead of listening to feedback and developing a test plan.... This “event” has made me reconsider buying DLC “just to support the devs” on any FTP game.

  7. Thanks for replying KillerWhale, always good to hear official word, good or bad news. I'd have to agree with H3adS4o7, and tried my best to communicate that with support lol tho not as detailed or well worded. Just the absence of glowing eyes shows something isn't right w/ La. waterway as far as Halloween Event goes. I personally now have spent more time hunting Vampire (for hat lol) than the other 2 and have 3 Albinos, 1 Vampire & 0 Ogres. 4 fish in 3½ days real time, and countless ingame days, is a lil over 1 fish a day, noway could I ever complete challenge at that catch rate & I'm fishing many hours a day in all the hotspots using same methods, setups, etc. as others. Every room I enter is everyone sharing known Vampire hotspots & setuos, yet we all sit there with no one catching anything. As stated if this is intended outcome of this event (and obviously is) it was poorly thought out in my opinion. Anyhow good luck & tight lines too all y'all, continuing event or not. Cya on the water tomorrow.

  9. Thank you for the continued timely responses. Would love to hear some more tips on locations as well as what kind of setup to catch them on for the specific species.

  10. How we are checking. We have a total number of fish caught on the lake. And the number of gars. So we figure out the catch rate. If you think the number of gars on quanchkin is too small - this is because not so many players on Quanchkin. Already 180 vampire gars where caught on Quanchkin by yesterday. If you guys need any additional tips how to catch Vampires - we are ready to help.

  11. This is where and how I've caught all 3 Halloween Gar's. I first started with the Green Ogre Gar and realized you needed to catch 30 so I did hoping that was it for the challenge when it said I needed 100 I kinda got deflated because it does take some time to catch these fish (sometimes) unfortunately. I've never been able to catch them back to back, what I mean is with some of the normal fish you can catch one then cast out again and catch another one or within a short period of time catch another one for me that's never happened. What I do is, fast forward to 9pm when I get to whatever area I'm fishing at cast out a few times if I don't get anything within 30 minutes (in game time so it would be 9:30pm for example) I'll fast forward to 10pm and so on. Now if you don't have coins or don't wanna buy coins you'll have to wait that first fast forward out then after that if you stay between 9pm - 4am you'll be able to fast forward for free. Here's how and where I caught the 3: Green Ogre Gar - North Carolina Neherrin River - Fishing Spots: Woody Enchantment and Rubble of Old Times (Caught 2 at Great Parking Job) -- I used Pigs Eye and Rotten Minnow's, #4/0 Hook, 20 Inch Line Leader. From the Woody Enchantment spot I would stand more to the left then right in front of the 2 wood pieces that are sticking out of the water, I would try and place my bait ( 60-75 Feet ) where it would float across the middle of that or just behind it and let it just go until it gets all the way to the far right. Sometimes I'd cast in the middle and let it float or to the right of the wood and let it float over all 3 ways I have caught the Green Ogre Gar. From the Rubble of Old Times, you can cast past the wood right in the middle I liked to stay in the 70-80 Feet range let it float over to the left once it got a few feet past the 2 wood pieces I would reel in and try again but a lot of times there was a bite so before you just rip on it to reel in see if there is something biting it first. The other area that I caught some at was where you normally get the Longenose Gar in that long weeded area to the right of where the wood pieces are (Still in Rubble of Old Times) I would go on the other side and just cast out 20 Feet right in front of the weeds give my line about 35-40 Feet let it float on down once it ran out of line I would reel in and try again. 2 other areas that haven't been successful but I did catch some right in front of the weeded area in Rubble of Old Times across the way is another weeded area I'd cast to the right in front of that and let it float down but I believe I only got 2 there. The last spot was Great Parking Job basically did it the same way if I was fishing for Flathead Catfish stand to the far left and cast towards the rocks or stand on the right side with the jeep/truck on your left and the weed patch to your right cast right in the middle of that. Again all were caught on Pigs Eye and Rotten Minnow's, #4/0 Hook, 20 Inch Line Leader. I've spent hours catching Green Ogre Gar and have 30 of them. Black Vampire Gar - Louisiana Quanchkin Lake - Fishing Spot: Down South -- I used Pigs Eye, #7/0 Hook, 20 Inch Line Leader. Fish it like if you were going to fish for an Alligator Gar. Where I was standing is to the far left of where you spawn at if you run into the bushes there's an area where you can see the Lake I was just casting to the right of the tree out there. A few people were saying where were they and after a few cast I caught one. Took maybe 30 Minutes real time. Albino Ghost Gar - Florida Everglades - Fishing Spot: Lily Pad Channel -- with the tips from X-xH3aDxS4o7x-X (Thank you by the way it was my first try even going for the Albino Ghost Gar) I was able to catch one on my first night there. I used Pigs Eye, #7/0 Hook, 35 Inch Line Leader. I put the bait right in front of the Lily Pads / Weeds just like in his picture where he circled in red. I haven't spent but maybe 30 real time minutes on this and caught 1. Again I usually don't let the time go past the 30 minutes, I know you can catch one at whatever like 9:45pm but I personally have had more success doing it the way I have been, where I don't just sit there and fish for hours in game time if I don't get a bite specially since its free (unless it's your first fast forward, then its 1 coin or wait it out) I would just skip to the next hour cast a few times nothing skip again, then if I caught one I would always skip ahead an hour because I've personally never have caught any of them back to back or in the same hour. Hope this helps or backs up what a few others like X-xH3aDxS4o7x-X have pointed out. By far the easiest of the 3 I think is Green Ogre Gar because I believe there is more spots to catch it, I haven't put a huge amount of time on the Black Vampire Gar or Albino Ghost Gar but was able to catch both pretty fast so I know it can be frustrating but hopefully you'll be able to at least get 1 of each which was what my goal was once I seen you need 100 of them to complete the challenge which I personally do not see how that's possible even for the Green Ogre Gar.

  12. Very good advice Vicious_Bear! Another "on location" bargain is the shinners at White Moose Lodge shop are cheaper than the "home shop". So stock up because when you get to Michigan you can't have too many shinners.

  13. I fished a third night on Florida. Got some similar nibbly bites in a few swims, but overall much less Albino activity than the previous two nights. Did get nibbles in two new swims, to the left of the Salty Delta pontoon by the weed and to the left of the Infinity pontoon by the weed. The latter gave me my only fish of the night to a dead mouse. The only fish I saw was to the left of the thickets pontoon. The only fish came within about 15 seconds of casting.

  14. So I jumped on for a 2 hour session after getting home from work and spent a fruitless hour in LA before getting utterly and thoroughly bored with nary a nibble, despite trying where I caught my first vamp and trying a spot where they're highly visible very close in. Went to FL for my last hour, 3 albino gar. It could stay live until Xmas and I wouldn't get 100 vamps at this rate.

  15. Despite the obvious frustration around this event, I thought I'd continue to post my observations around the Albino in Florida. The first thing that I started doing last night was to only fish each spot for 30 seconds to a minute. Over the last two nights I have noticed that, while it is possible to catch after waiting in one spot it seems to make more sense to move about, as all of the activity I have had from these fish comes very soon after the cast. The fish I caught on the first night came from waiting most of the night in one spot. That fish returned six times before I finally hooked it. Last night I tried eight spots. Five of them produced nibbles or bites in under one minute. I had one fish from the left side of the thickets straight after casting. The fish showed itself immediately after casting and then took virtually straight away. Bait was the eye on 20" leader size 5/0 hook. This spot gave me three more sightings, as did two spots along the far bank lilly bed. Triple X's honey pot produced my second fish. This came to a different bite type with the float moving around in small bobs, rather than the one big bob followed by a strong bite. I also did not see the fish in this spot at all. This bite was the same as the one I thought was a Bluegill the night before. This spot produced another five nibbles through my visits but no further fish. The one I did catch was on the dead mouse, 20" leader and 5/0 hook. I also tried fishing straight out to the lilly lined channel and this also produced an immediate nibble and a sighting of the fish. Not sure if any of this has helped, but personally I prefer this more roving approach. If I get a sign immediately but no bite I may wait a couple of minutes to see if the fish returns, but so far this seems to take too long, whereas searching out another fish can have immediate results.

  17. To be fair guys, it wasn't censored in any way. I guess whoever moved it felt it deserved to be in the tips section of general discussion because of the amount of info posted about the gar and a higher volume of traffic than the PS4 section. Just an assumption.

  18. I'm not even bothering with the event anymore after seeing the "spawn" rates and that there ment to be exactly how there intended to be events a joke I've spent a small fortune on this game between Steam & Ps4 hundreds of hrs on both and the event has never been this bad on steam even before night fishing was added.... I now have 0 intention of spending any money on this game no matter how much i love the look of the halloween rods (my fav colour) just not worth it until they fix the game at lest on pc i have bought unlimited licenses on all maps (aside from teh last 3 that were added) so i can play casually on that but Ps4 there is no possible way to get unlimited licenses on the maps short of being a millionaire IRL...

  19. Yup and on the other PS4 forum the devs said event is exactly how it is supposed to be. So they are just screwing PS4 players and taking our money! They don’t respond to messages you send them about the issue either. Or at least not me.

  20. I guess it was too revealing ,) Total bs event! you can't catch 100 ghost and vamp gar, just ogre gar, 1 every 15-20 minutes. sooo 1500-2000 minutes for a vest so 25 hours plus bait that is at least 60 baitcoins = 4Euros. thank you fishing planet guys for milking us PS4 players so hard. i almost came but just loled at you in the end.

  23. Ok thanks for ripping me off of my 14.99 and sticking that fishing pole deep in my ss. Now I’m done with your game. It was a fun game but I don’t support companies who scam the customers. Clearly you have not made your community happy and just throwing numbers that are wrong and total BS instead of addressing us proves you are ripping us off.

  24. You do realize you just proved beyond a doubt that Louisiana is bugged and not WAI? If those are catch rates, it’s very easy to see that LA is NOT working as intended considering I can go catch 40-60 Albino Gar right now in the time it takes to hook one Black Vampire Gar. Although catch rates maybe entered correctly it most definitely does not mean AI is WAI or the environment is WAI. It is so ultra clear to every player here and elsewhere that it is 100% broken that it saddens me to think Devs would not take this seriously and assume, arrogantly, that they know better than the 1000s of people playing the game. Please, wake up! Address the issue properly and professionally and speak WITH your playerbase instead of just at them.

  25. now who in the world would think of an event that will frustrate players instead of appease and keep them playing the game ( assuming it does work )? 1.74% catch rate is the highest? is the event the whole of november? i know this is the first event for ps4, but please do think if this kind of event will do in the future? will this players will buy again the dlcs for that event? damn i didnt buy but i feel for those who did.

  27. Personally having worked in Sales and HR, as well as Management. The proper thing to do in a situation like this is to offer some sort of compensation. If they can't fix the Vampire Gar and extend the event for PS4 users, then they should offer the reward that is unatainable to all of the players. The halloween hat to all players. The other rewards are possible to get, so I'm not saying just go willy nilly and give everything away. Then there is the matter of how much in game money(credits) has been spent. At least 100,000 per player. Not to mention the lowered RNG of regular daytime fish, making it impossible to make money back wasted on travel fees for uncatchable fish. Then there are baitcoins spent for Halloween baits. 5 baitcoins for 5x dead minnows is a lot. There should be some reimbursement for that as well. Then there's the people who spent REAL money on their Monster Night Pack, which everyone that has bought it has said that it won't even bring in the event fish... If they don't give some sort of compensation, I can almost guarantee players will leave the game. Which in turn will cost them a lot more money in the long run that providing compensation or at least an extended WORKING event. I got so frustrated myself after spending 30+ REAL TIME hours chasing the Black Vampire Gar that I nearly quit myself. Instead of denying the problem, they should address it. It would be a costly mistake for them not to.

  28. Yes, this was all in one day. One 4 day trip to Florida. It took most of the day to finish it. I'd say about 6-8 hours real time total. I'll post the details and updated picture again so people don't have to dig back through the entire post. Got a confirmed spot for the Albinos. Go to the Lily Pad Channel peg in Florida. Go to the end of the dock and turn left facing the boat. There is a grass patch right next to the dock. At the end of the grass patch there is a little gap. That is the money hole. I caught 5 within 4 hours in game. 3 within 10 minutes real time. I missed the hookset on 2 of them, so it could've been 7. I totalled 20 albinos for the entire day. Buckylastrd caught 10 before I left last night. That's 30 in 1 day between the two of us from this spot. Throw just past the gap into the red area from the photo 23-27 ft(7-8m). Leader length 35in(90cm). #8/0 hook. Dead minnows. I'm using 35lb fluoro but not sure that matters. They started biting immediately at 7pm and continued to bite until 11pm. They moved on after that, however I found them just past the boat on the left side at 60-100ft(18-30m)in the green area from the photo. You can even see the gar swimming around in the 2nd spot but not at the first. 88ft(26m) seems to be the sweet spot on the green area. The green area seems to get more bites at a 24in(60cm) leader than it does at 35in(90cm). It was on a partly cloudy day. I also don't know if this matters either. Thank you to Magisthiq for providing all of this information. It was his discovery not mine.

  30. I can't imagine them doing it on purpose given how people are getting frustrated. The last thing they want is to push players away from a free game because the only income comes from ingame purchases. They had problems when the event first launched which caused it to be disabled again briefly, and of course, there was the hooking bug. It's still a new game for PS4 and I imagine doing a port isn't an easy job...actually, I'd say it's evident it isn't easy. They did compensate players for the whole hooking bug thing and gave double XP. I'm not slating the game or devs when I say that an event should be fun, you shouldn't have to sit for 8 game hours for one bite. As someone stated elsewhere in this thread, is there an issue because PS4 has no night fishing while this event allows us to? There's a plethora of possible reasons why it's messed up, not being a programmer, all are beyond me. Yes, it's frustrating as hell, but I highly doubt that it's a purposeful move from the devs, as when people get frustrated they go elsewhere. Now, the Halloween baits are baitcoin only purchases, that is a deliberate move because of course, they want us to buy baitcoins. That's fair enough and expected, but making the game frustrating to the point of quitting for good isn't in their interests - they want us spending, not leaving. Some dev input would be nice admittedly, because there is obviously something not right for the vast majority. The other concern is that people are saying the regular fish aren't biting so well since the Halloween went active. I can't comment as all I've done is chase gar since they went live. But, that would be an underhand tactic if deliberate. However, again I think it's an accidental thing because as I said, they need us playing and happy and spending...not getting pissed off. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, even if I'm going to need the hat to cover my bald head after pulling my hair out in frustration.

  31. Alright, well let's break this down.... "This Gar O Ween event is joke! Pay DLC for skins that dont do anything? Yea, claim to make game realistic and going to add garbage. " It's a free event, which is meant to be fun. It's free, you don't have to buy the DLC. You can even get free rewards for catching enough of the event fish, that you don't even have to have their event baits to catch. Who cares if they're realistic or not? They're temporary and fun, and it's a halloween theme. "I would rather see an ice fishing dlc with new maps without a price tag." Oh so you complain about the game, yet you want them to make new maps for a game that you don't even like, FOR FREE. No compensation for the Devs? Nice logic there slappy. They do plan on releasing new maps and even european waters soon. As per the Devs " Right now, we are actively working on bottom fishing, feeders, as well as British and European waterways. We already finished a new aquatic complex in Great Britain called the Weeping Willow Lakes and are currently working on Dutch and German waterways. We’ll soon show you a sneak peak of the new location and + 40 European fish species. However, we plan to release all of these features (European ponds and Bottom fishing) together, as one complex update. " "How long in beta? .......Two years and game has bugs that probably wont ever get fixed and people going to give them money for putting in fake fish. (yea the wack fish is free but not the tackle)" The game has very few bugs, and the ones it does have aren't game-breaking. They even recently fixed some bugs that people were having and compensated the community for their errors. More than generous. Regarding the fake fish, they're all fake fish. If you don't like the game, go grab a REAL rod and reel and fish for your REAL fish. "This is why the gaming industry is going down under without the abandoned ship warning." No, people like you who go onto forums and troll/slate developers of a free game that you don't have to pay for and absolutely do not have to play are what is ruining the gaming industry. If you want better content more towards what you desire for the game, show some respect for the developers, maybe even buy a DLC to support them. They need to get paid too. Possibly try cordially speaking with them and making suggestions that are constructive. I've seen you on post after post bashing this game. If you don't like it, don't play and it and just go away.
