Find a spot where you can consistently snag weed and keep going and you will snag other items available at that waterway. This does not apply to sticks or bark where you must target logs sticking up in the water. Specific weeds can only be found at certain lakes and rivers so use internet to find out what's available and where to find them.

My life is fine and I still say it was exactly as stated in the instructions, near is near and nothing seems broken to me.
Im not the one swearing at a computer game, nuff said.

One baitcoin per event fish like there was for the St Patrick's Day event would give everyone that has completed an event previously something to do during it, also having the Fireworks communal helps the festive spirit and encourages people to chat and cooperate in events.

It has been pointed out that there are no real incentives to play as a more advanced player, as all the challenges are one shot items and the events cannot be done a second time. I really enjoyed and looked forward to the new monster fish that have been added and found they encouraged me to fish some of the earlier lakes instead of just hammering away at the latest waterway.
Now that I have completed the Halloween,Christmas,St Patrick day and Independence Day events there is no new challenges or rewards as most event fish are not worth money and XP is no good to you if you are already Max level. Could all events maybe reset as I am sure we would all do them again each year and I am sure they produce an increase in revenue to the developers for the time they are running. May I suggest having the ONE BAITCOIN per event fish as there was with the St Patrick event on all events as once you hit max level and do all challenges there is no way to earn them if you are not into comps.
Love the game, glad the developers are still adding new things.

Not broken it says to cast "near" the canoe not in it or at it and that is exactly where it can be found,,literally 10 feet from the canoe on the opposite bank. Enough people have found it and reported its location to make it easily found. Hope you try again and have better luck as I know I hate not finishing challenges.

If you have PlayStation plus then Fishing Planet is free and there is also a free starter pack,would be worth having just for the events if you only play on The Fisherman, and you could do all the challenges again.

Just completed the final challenge and received the treasure map with coordinates for the treasure chest with jacket and rod and assumed that they were for emerald lake where the map is earned,no luck resorted to internet to complete mission and find treasure. Am I missing something or are you really meant to look on all maps until you find something at the provided coordinates or is there a clue to which waterway the shipwreck is on (Hint!!! ships sail on the sea so only the waterways with saltwater are possible).

Found the spot on the left looking into the channel with the canoe on the opposite bank so it may be a random spot nearby as long as the "cast near the canoe" challenge disappears you know you have the spot.

Don't cast at the boat if you look at the challenge there are two parts to it first part is cast near the canoe, if you cast into the reeds on the opposite bank you will find a spot that register as casting near canoe, only took two more casts once I found the spot.

Is there going to be the Independence Day event like previous years as I have seen information about it but have not had the chance to take part, tagged fish,cannons and fireworks all sounds good to me.

On ps4 there is a free fishing planet 2.0 starter bundle that does not show up in free games but does if you do a search. not sure if its also on pc.

Free redworm bait at the compost heap at end of wooden bridge and dont forget to skip time to peak fishing times to improve catch rate.

Look to set up your tackle to take advantage of "maxdrag" as even on light rod the extra benefits of using max drag without risk of losing fish or tackle can speed up landing fish and it doesn't cost anything

Good to see more challenges, can you catch more than one bully Perch or is it a single fish like other monster fish?

Look at bubbles way on YouTube he has some good guides to catching the monster fish and collecting the items required to fish for them, he fishes on PC and PS4 and I think PS5. Good luck I wish I could do the monster challenge again.

Level 68 onwards obviously fish at the new Amazonian maze as the fish are huge and XP massive

Definitely changed the dynamics of night fishing at Marron, used to stay at same favourite spot until net was full and then skip to next night and repeat. Three or four uniques per night. Now if you don't see any fish in the first ten minutes you need to move to another location until you find them and be ready to move two or three times to fill a net. Uniques are still around but not as often as before.

It's the only "FREE" game I have ever played that gets new maps,updates and fixes.

Update on ps4 just reset my level 65 xp bar back to zero. still on level 65 so hope next time I level up it will go to level 66?

If you are seeing the "your bait was pulled away" message then shorten your leader to less than 20inches.

Have enjoyed the new Fish Monster challenges and revisiting the older waterways and I am sure it has encouraged others to play and spend cash. Can I suggest releasing an existing Fish Monster each month when all the new waterways and waterways without Fish Monster have been completed, this would also allow anglers to replace their favourite lures where applicable, the Golem lure seems to be a favourite.
l still like the idea of one bait coin per event Fish, got to keep the game interesting as once players walk away they find a new game and may not return.
