Not caught a unique at Marron River for a week, can it be just bad luck? usually get at least three or four per in game day and had a day six with no fish whatsoever, tried ten minutes at several different usual locations then gave up and returned home, returned to water day one back to normal but still no uniques!!
Level up when the new map opens may take a little longer than expected

woops dont know why that message came out like that, ipad touch screen fumbles.
Not saying you set wrong drag as I also play on console PS4 and was always accidentally ramping up the drag resulting in tackle losses, until I started using a max drag setup that is happy running max drag all the time with no chance of breakage.
Hope this is of some use.

So far I've lost a BC jerkbait and a x-series crankbait. Fix your goddamn game guys!
Not sure how you are associating the loss of these lures with clipping your line as spinning gear cannot be clipped?
try using a max drag setup and you will never lose tackle again because of wrong drag settings.

Not certain on this one but some space in bags and vest are specificaly for reels and line so it may be that even though you may appear to have room for more items the section for general tackle including underwater trash is full? Dump some of your cheapest bait to open up space as you can get free redworm at the compost pile near the bridge if you need it.

I keep Golem at home now that I have caught it after a long fight.... and wore out both pole and reel... As for breakage of rods and reels, I had a fish hit while in Florida and I set the hook and the pole broke immediately. I didn't even have a chance to fight. There are just some fish that are too strong for the rod. Reels do wear out after a time.... which seems strange to me as I have several reels (and poles) I have used for more than 30 years without breakage. I fish for Salmon in Lake Michigan, Northern Pike in Canada, Bass and Walleyes as well as Big Cats in the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. The most maintenance I usually do is wipe them down, give a shot of lube and put them in the rack until the next time.
Yep swill in clean water to remove salt and a quick spray and they last forever. Still enjoy pulling them to bits every couple of years for a proper job, satisfying

True big guns for big fish but the principle of max drag still stands and eliminates the chance of tackle breakage. Only listed the setup for the lightest and cheapest equipment as this is what is available to newcomers to the game as they are the players that struggle with this issue.
Lacazadora 11'1" ,Torbellino 11000, with 73lb mono, can be set to max drag without fear of breakage and as they are balanced they will wear more evenly and the only way to break a rod or reel is to run out of line. Being a fisherman I've always stuck to using Titanium leaders when fishing for toothy critters and not chanced losing lures but knowing that they are not needed will make more room in the tackle bag, always welcome.
-
Using the lightest practical rod with max drag setup so that you can trust it not to break will also gain you maximum Xp, just look at the Xp when you catch a fish and if you have red arrows after Xp you are fishing too heavy! Don't forget to add a titanium leader if you are fishing for pike, 7lb titanium leader on the 6lb set up is all you will ever need at Emerald lake and will earn you lots of cash and level you up faster.
Happy fishing.

Asked what bait I was using to catch Asp at Tiber I was unable to say cockchafer, which is an awesome bait for them

Hope they don't notice before people get a chance to sell!!!

Thanks I thought I was having a senior moment and imagined how much I got for them. I can't think of anything else we've earned at an event earning anywhere near that much.

Have had the Vampire glasses equipped since Halloween without even thinking about them, but when doing the Christmas challenge I changed over to the Polar lights glasses as they were needed to collect coins from the blue sacks and as I had never had the Vampire glasses in my home storage and with all the Christmas groundbait taking up space I looked to sell them as they had no use last year other than to look cool, I was shocked to find they were worth over 500!! cant remember exact amount as I bought the 200 space storage box for 300 baitcoins and still had over 300 left.
Someone please look how much they are worth if you still have them as video from last year says they were only worth 50 odd.

My thoughts exactly, used some up on the 1000 crappie challenge and some on the panfish. Storage is a premium so it's got to go.
-
Are the Mega cookie and Pure snow of any use now christmas event is over as they take up over 30 spaces in my home storage?

I see lots of people losing fish and tackle because of line breaking, this can be eliminated easily by using a maximum drag setup.
The specifications that are given for a rod reel or line all have different meanings and can be used to make an unbreakeable set up.
line Test is the force at which the line will break.
max drag is the maximum force that a reel is designed to safely operate at.
Line weight is a recomended range to safely use on a rod.
The only one of these that is a set breaking point is the line so if reel is chosen with a maximum drag below this figure the line will not break even at max drag.select a rod that safely uses this line weigt and you have an unbreakeable setup. yay!!
Reality is that you dont use a 6lb set up fishing for 30lb fish as once he exerts a force greater than 6lb he will strip line off the reel and when you run out of line you will trash your reel.
So sensible setups at the bottom end of the scale for lone star would be,
SPINNING
Mono 6lb
callisto xs 1400 5.75lb max drag
Valuespin 6'3"
BOTTOM
Mono 6lb
callisto xs 1400 5.75lb max drag
Creek Pro 7'10"
FLOAT
Mono 6lb
callisto xs 1400 5.75lb max drag
Omnifloat 11'5"
Drag set at max
It can be alarming to see all the line, reel and rod level indicators solidly in the red but nothing will break.
I now use this method on all my setups so a 20lb spinning setup would be,
Mono 20lb
Big River 6500 19lb max drag
Thora 9'6"
Drag set at max
This rig I used to catch multiple christmas tarpon that all were in the 70lb region without a single breakage. (christmas challenge stipulated max 23lb setup otherwise I would have used something a bit beefier to cut down fish fighting times.)
The good thing about this setup is that you can't accidentally change your drag setting and break off your tackle as is so easy on PS4 as the Dpad has different functions picking up rods and during fishing.
So how do you break a reel? There is a challenge for this, let a fish run all your line off.
How do you break a rod?Maximum distance cast a lure or weight that is too heavy for your setup, it will warn you when you put on lure.
Hope this is of use,
Happy New Year To All

shorter heavier rods are less forgiving when a fish shakes, jumps or turns towards you as there is less flexed rod to streighten out and take up the instant slack before you get a chance to react. holding the rod to the side will help absorb the slack. I was losing furry trout on a fast retrieve with a short heavy rod due to loss of line tension when the trout skipped along the surface and changing to a lighter more flexible rod sorted it out. If you still have the lure on after losing a fish then its down to line tension.

Lots of help from others on the internet and at the lakes and rivers and it was totally possible to finish all of the Christmas challenges without paying any real money, plenty of time to still do the side challenges at moose lake.still the best fishing game around and it's free.
enjoy and happy new year.

Ok so just had a new update on ps4 and it seems they have stopped you from mixing the cookie groundbait with other bases to make it go further!!!

Thanks had all the challenge caps but got rid of as I wear the headlamp. Moose lake was the one that made me wonder where the stockings were as the waters with snow piles don't have stockings. Snowmans cap it is then!!!

Does anyone know which sites have stockings as many that I have visited have parcels and sacks but no stockings?
-
After catching 200 plus fish to earn the headlamp I find a I can't use it without a basic baseball cap that I don't have anymore!!!
-
Use jukebox at non peak fishing times to avoid catching other non Christmas fish especially useful when setting up rods on rest before starting music.

Ok yeti hunter 3 earns a Pandora's box worth 133 bait coins very nice, grab your torch and pitchfork which took me twice as long earned a psycho killer vest worth 5 bait coins have yet to do the silver bullet that's next on list. So I say don't drop the 99 bait coins for the spoons do the ghostbusters pike challenge now they improved the catch rate, do the sweet tooth, and yeti hunter3 and earn yourself two new rods and a tackle box worth 133 coins!!!

There are pumpkins at blue crab but still only give the same rubbish, expensive travel for some maggots and piece of chain!
I refuse to drop the 99 coins for the DLC when all I need is the two lures, I concentrated on the sweet tooth challenge and ghostbuster both give a Halloween rod as a reward.

Save lots of cash on bait using duck mussel, you will also catch carp but they are also worth good money and Xp so no problem
