Hey, anglers! Today we’ll take a closer look at one of the key element of feeder fishing, namely, Feeding. Feeding implies “providing food” for a certain areas of a waterway to attract bottom fish and keep them in that area. In this DevBlog entry we’ll tell you all about how the Feeding system functions as a feature within the game. How Feeding works. The chum that you use to feed the selected feed area can have different properties depending on the components used to prepare it. In the game, you can use either basic groundbait mixes by simply adding some water or make your own unique chum by using different components and additives. Either way, the efficiency of your chum will directly depend on the components as well as the conditions in which you plan to use it. You can prepare the chum mix only when you are already at a waterway, because it stays fresh only for a limited in-game period of time and should be used within the time limits shown on a special indicator in your inventory. Separate packed components and particle mixes, on the other hand, have no expiration date. Besides, ready-made chum is very inconvenient in terms of transportation. That’s why once you leave the waterway, all the leftovers remaining from your prepared chum will be automatically disposed of. To start Feeding the fish, you must place the chum into a feeder and cast it to the desired spot. You can find more info about feeders in this DevBlog entry: Feeder Fishing: Part 1 Feeder Fishing: Part 2 Once in the water, the chum begins to spread from the feeder, depending on its components, the type of the feeder you are using and the speed of flow. By seeping from the feeder, the chum creates so-called “Feeding spots” or “feed area” that attract bottom fish to the area. Of course, many factors should be taken into account in order to make the Feeding most effective. You should consider the bottom terrain, time of day, weather conditions, temperature, speed of current, components used for making the chum and what fish they will attract and even the amount of chum you need to distribute in the given area. It is important to keep in mind that even the most efficient and abundant Feeding won’t help you get many bites, if the feed area is initially devoid of fish. That’s why it’s always important to explore and study the waterway to select the areas with abundant fish activity. At this stage, the only way of Feeding in the game will be with the help of feeders. In the future, however, we will most likely be adding other methods, like tossing the chum by hand. But it is too early to talk about at the moment.

The feeder is usually filled with a special feeder mix made out of many components to attract the fish. By casting the feeder repeatedly in the same spot, it creates a so-called “chum spot” that builds up the feed and attracts the fish, resulting in much more frequent bites and bigger catches! Before you start feeding fish it’s important to study the bottom terrain and look for areas with higher fish activity and then prepare the feeder bait. Time after time, by filling up the feeder and recasting it to the same chosen spot, you’ll be able to attract a whole school of fish. The length of the hooklink can be adjusted by securing the line to stop it from running, but one must be careful not to lose the hookbait when making a powerful cast. You can feeder fish by holding the rod in hand or use special rod stands that will let you make multiple casts using a number of rods simultaneously. The rod’s flexible quiver tip swill shows even a slight fish bite while using an alarm bell is a sure way no to miss it. With some practice and proper effort, this method should definitely pay off, rewarding the angler with a hefty catch! Сhum will work almost anywhere, but this method is most popular in Europe, where there the “white”, no-predatory fish are more abundant. Crucian Carp, Bream, Tench, Common Carp, and many other related species are you most likely catch when feeder fishing! Enjoy your feeder experience with Fishing Planet and tight lines!

The coolest thing about bottom fishing is the possibility of using different rods simultaneously! That’s what makes so many anglers hyped about this way of fishing, and that’s exactly what we are currently working on!;) Once the whole Multi-rod feature is introduced to the game, we’ll also be adding new fishing equipment, namely the Rod Holders, that will let you catch fish using multiple rods at the same time! At first, we plan to add about 7 different kinds of Rod Holders, that will mostly differ by their rod capacity, being capable of holding from 1 to 4 rods each. This means that the player will get a chance to take one Rod Holder on a fishing trip and use it by setting up in any convenient location, as well as adjusting its direction and height. We also plan to add the possibility of taking multiple Rod Holders with a capacity for 1 rod, so that you could set them up in different locations. Certain rod holder models will even have a Bite Signal feature installed. Aside from this, we’ll also be adding stationary rod holders on some of the waterways that will be available for all anglers to use. When all the functionalities related to bottom fishing and rod holders are introduced to the game, the players will be able to fish using various lures and baits simultaneously, which should drastically change everyone’s attitude to float and bottom-fishing rigs!

New waterways are on its way and the work is in full spate! We are ready to present you some screenshots. We hope you will like it! Stay tuned for more information and prepare your rods! PS: Those who will guess the origin country of this waterway will get some interesting presents from Fishing Planet.

Hey, anglers:) As you well know, Fishing Planet will soon be expanding its fishing premises onto the much awaited European regions! An so, today we’ll tell you about the Ghent–Terneuzen Canal in the Kingdom of the Netherlands - a place where you’ll be having some unforgettable fishing adventures! Also known as Zeekanaal (or simply the Sea Canal), it links Ghent in Belgium to the port of Terneuzen on the Westerschelde estuary in the Netherlands. This deep canal (about 12m / 40 ft in depth) runs 200m (660 ft) wide and 32 km (20 mi) long, while serving as a navigable passage for large vessels almost all year round. The in-game fishing locations are situated on the part of the canal near the small town of Westdorpe, just a few miles off the Belgium–Netherlands border. The shoreline is somewhat monotonous, which on the one hand makes this area seem a bit dull, but on the other - provides a perfect location for large-scale feeder and float fishing competitions. In fact, World Feeder Championships 2015 was held here as well as countless regional and local competitions. Among other things, this canal is so attractive to anglers because it is inhabited both by typical freshwater species (Ide, Common Bream and Common Roach) as well as sea fish (like the European Flounder, Thicklip Grey Mullet and the European Eel). Only the eastern bank (right side) of the canal in this location is available for fishing. The fishing area is about 1km in length. Since this waterway is a canal, the steady-sloping grassy bank is basically unchanging, lined with some reed thickets close to the shore. Beyond the fishing area, you’ll see a hilly tree-lined landscape with a highway and farm fields barely noticeable in the distance. Although the landscape and the shoreline are largely unchanged, the fishing area can be roughly divided into two parts, that is two fishing locations: 1) An urbanistic bank near a large highway span bridge, overlooking a large elevator and massive warehouses on the opposite side; 2) A shoreline overlooking Dutch houses and farm fields with windmills. Here are some interesting man-made objects that we added as part of the scenery: 1) a highway span-bridge across the canal; 2) huge cargo ships navigating the canal; 3) towboats and freight-laden barges navigating the canal; 4) an industrial area with a moore and an elevator across the canal; 5) modern and old-fashioned windmills atop the hills across the canal; 6) Dutch-style houses as part of the landscape. Here’s a quick overview to give you a general idea on how we created the new waterway: First off, our game-designer (who is also an expert angler) did some in-depth R'n'D looking for the right waterway in the Netherlands. The key factor to consider was the waterway’s popularity particularly among feeder anglers in the region. Since we were looking at the Netherlands, we wanted it to be a canal, to add some local coloring. Among other factors were the abundance of fish species, some interesting landscapes (we don’t want to repeat ourselves), etc. Once we found the perfect waterway, our angling game-designer drafted up a detailed plan with a map and all the necessary info that was further handed over to our 3D artists. It was up to them to create the scene, plant the trees and bushes, design and scale the industrial objects, etc. After that, it was up to our programmers to do some coding magic and make the towboats and cargo ships move, the windmills spin, the cars drive and the span-bridge turn. Finally, once all of that was completed, it was once again up to our angling game-designer to create the waterway’s bottom terrain and structure. And right now, we are working on the fish setup for this waterway which is one of the final steps before waterway introduction into the Game.

Hey, angling friends! Today we’ll give you a little insight into the captivating world of feeder fishing and tell you about this very popular technique, widely practiced and much loved by anglers worldwide! Feeder fishing was originally invented in Great Britain - a nation with an immense history of fishing, and one that particularly enjoys this sporty pastime. Two things make feeder fishing different from all other methods: the use of feeders instead of simple traditional bait (that’s where it gets its name from) and the use of special fishing rods with a soft, sensitive quiver tip. The quiver tip’s sensitivity shows the rod’s “test”, usually measured in ounces or grams. The right “test” depends on the fishing conditions and target fish that you plan to catch. If properly chosen, this parameter should allow identifying even the slightest fish bites in any conditions. Enjoy your feeder experience with Fishing Planet and tight lines!

In its first iteration, our waterway will feature 3 locations. However, considering its large size, we have plans for doubling this number in the future. Location 1. Twisty Tiber This is an amazing place for all types of fishing. This particular location is the spot where World Feeder Championship was held in 2011. Here, high earthen banks gradually descend into the river, with a only a few trees growing not far from the waterline and otherwise surrounded by vast farm fields and beautiful valleys. Target non-predatory fish: European Carp, Common Barbel and Crucian Carp. Target spinning fish: Asp. Location 2. Float & Feeder Heaven The perfect spot for feeder and float fishing. This is the deepest of all locations, with slow moving water. A little dam makes Tiber flow wider in this area, forming a small water reservoir. The place is located right next to an old vineyard atop green hills. Target fish: European Carp and Wels Catfish. Location 3. Tiber Rocks! Just a short way downstream from the dam, where Tiber’s streamflow is braided, is yet another fishing spot. Great place for catching Trout with a spinning. This is the most shallow location of all, with fast current and depth of about 3 m (10ft). Many small islands and rocky ridges come into view. Target fish: Brown Trout, Grayling and Riverine Brown Trout. This was probably the easiest pick of all. Tiber is such a famous river and this particular area is so well-known for hosting major fishing events, that choosing it as a Fishing Planet waterway was a no-brainer for us! Stay tuned and we’ll tell you lot’s more..

Hey, anglers! Today we’d like to give you a sneak peek at what’s coming and tell you about another new waterway from the European region that you’ll be fishing soon enough. We’re talking about la bella Italia! We chose the oldest and most well-known river in all of Italy - the Tiber (Tevere). After all, the eternal city of Rome was founded right on its banks almost 3000 years ago. Tiber is also the third longest river in Italy with an abundance of fish species. Our waterway is a part of Tiber in its middle reaches, that passes through the region of Umbria. Here the river turns, meandering past a hilly rural area not far from the small town of Montemelino. The water is a bit turbid in this area, with moderate current. Well, first off, Tiber hosted World Championships of feeder, spinning and float fishing. The particular spot that you’ll see in the game was the site of 2011 World Feeder Fishing Championship, when ukrainian angler Alexiy Strashniy got the championship title. Then there’s also the variety of beautiful landscapes in this area: beautiful meadows with farm fields, vineyards, and forests atop tall hills, remnants of ancient structures, an old dam where the river flow separates amidst small islands and rocky ridges. All of this creates an unforgettable atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the very heart of Italy.

What is Halloween without magic and dreadful monsters? That is why we have a bunch of special missions for you. The main one is ”FrankenFish Hunt”. But you need to complete them all! Rumor has it, there’s a abominable monster-fish that will devour anything alive, even humans! The only opportunity to summon and hunt it down is during this year’s Halloween festivities. Head over to San Joaquin, find the island with the Witching Cauldron and deal with the vile Frankenfish! The second one is -"Get the Book!" To complete this mission you need to find an ancient magic book and choose that one potion that will help you to summon the Frankenfish. Head over to Quankchin Lake and catch all of the wicked witch’s pets Catfish at midnight using special Halloween baits to retrieve the magic book! “Potion of Summoning” You’re in for a real scavenger hunt and plenty of fishing adventures to collect all of the necessary items for brewing the Frankenfish Summoning potion! Find the Witching Cauldron on San Joaquin and put all of the magic ingredients according to the Witching Recipe Book at the Cauldron! In next missions you need to collect all the ingredients for the summon potion: “Bunch of Mandrake Roots” Wait for nightfall and head over to Falcon Lake in the mountainous region of Oregon to find these mythical plants that will glow in the dark! “Jar of Fish Eyes” The second ingredient of the Summoning Potion is Fish Eyes taken from a Bowfin that was caught after midnight using Roaches as bait! This is Frankenfish’s favorite snack and will definitely get his attentions. “Skeleton Tail” Let’s start with the Skeleton Bluegill by getting its tail! Catch these fishy Skeletons only in special power places during night time, each corresponding a certain planet. “Ghost Essence” You should put you soul into everything you do, particularly if you’re brewing a magic summoning potion! However, in this case, the Witching Book means literally adding some Ghost Pike essence! Catch enough of these fishy spooks during night time to gather a sufficient amount of their ethereal essence and attract the Frankenfish! “Green Ogre Scale” The summoning potion should be colored in a very sparkly shade of green. You’ll need to add plenty of green fish scales taken from the most fierce and hard-to-catch Gar in Neherrin River. “Albino Yeti Gills” Catching a monster fish is quite a task. But catching an albino monster fish is even a bigger challenge! Head on over to Everglades night for your next magic ingredient and get some gills from Albino Yeti. “Black Vampire Fin” Now, the recipe says that you must add the fins of blood-sucking monsters! It’s a good thing that Black Vampire Gars were recently spotted in Louisiana. Of course, you can only catch them during night time at Quanchkin. Good Luck to all brave anglers who will try to catch the Frankenfish!
