ondry Posted October 3, 2017 Report Posted October 3, 2017 Tiger Trout Tiger Trout (Salmo trutta × Salvelinus fontinalis) is a hybrid species, a cross between a female Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) and a male Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis). Tiger Trout can be found in ponds, lakes and streams in the West and Midwest of United States, that are inhabited by both Brook Trout and Brown Trout. Visually distinguished by wavy tiger-like markings on the sides of their yellow-brownish bodies, these fish have brownish lower fins and white belly. Tiger Trout can range in size from 0.5kg to 3.5kg. The regular diet of the Tiger Trout consists of larvae, insects, invertebrates and small fish.
