Colorado Golden Trout

Colorado Golden Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss aguabonita), is a subspecies of the Rainbow Trout native to the state of Colorado. These fish are endemic to cold mountain lakes, rivers and streams in the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado. The Colorado Golden Trout is distinguished by spectacularly bright coloration of golden and vivid red, with horizontal bands on the sides. Fully grown fish on average range from 15 to 30 cm in length, usually weighing from 0.3 - 1.5 kg. The diet of Colorado Golden Trout consists mainly of water-dwelling insects, larvae, small crustaceans and freshwater shrimp.
