White Sturgeon

White Sturgeon (Acipenser Transmontanus), is a species of Sturgeon that is the largest freshwater fish in North America. These fish live on the bottoms of slow-moving rivers, bays, and estuarine areas along the west coast of North America from the Aleutian Islands to Central California. White Sturgeon have slender bodies, usually ranging in colour from greenish gray to light gray. These fish have no scales and are covered in armor of large bony plates. White Sturgeon can range in size from 10 to 100 kg, and it’s possible to catch unique specimen of up to 130kg. But the largest White Sturgeon ever caught weighed 816 kg! The diet of White Sturgeon primarily consists of other fish (dead and alive), insects, crustaceans, and mollusks. They will consume dead fish as well as those that are alive.
