x-AsHeR Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 I catch bowkin and bass with my spinning rod but with my telescopic I’m not getting any bites 1 Quote
ItsShamee Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) ViolentVole will help more than i can but its all about Bait and lead i find, i dont do alot of float fishing for bass so i cant tell you specifics but small minnows work for bait and the lead depends or where you are. Hope it helped till someone more knowledgeable can help. Also Telescopic rods are better for pan fishing or smaller fish, if you want to float for bigger then Match rods are you best choice. Violentvole Posted October 8, 2017 Report Posted October 8, 2017 My thanks for the vote of confidence, but, Alas! I have not used a single telescopic rod. They are generally inferior and substandard here in the UK and that knowledge has biased me ingame. However, the rod you use should have no bearing on the amount of bites received. Even hook size has little bearing on the amount of bites you get in this game. Line strength, or more specifically, diameter, does play a part. The descriptions are a bit...vague too. Because a match rod in the UK can handle lines from 12 ounces to maybe 4lbs. Then you get stepped up models ( SU ) and commercial fishery models, then they switch to Avon rod types with TC of 1lb or more. A rod capable of handling lines of 20lb or more is in no way a match rod! But, semantics aside, the rod in use plays no part in determining how many bites you get. Match your line, hook size and bait to the species sought. I'm not ingame right now, but shall purchase a tele outfit later. If you are correct and they result in a reduction in catches, I shall make it known. If on the other hand, I see no difference, I'll make that known too. That's one of the things I like about this game - always something new to try. I'll be honest and say I haven't even looked at tele rods, so have no idea of their capabilities at this time. Quote
x-AsHeR Posted October 9, 2017 Author Report Posted October 9, 2017 I’ve finally got it down pat with my new match rod, catching 2lb bass and catfish in Missouri Quote
Horayforcats Posted February 28, 2018 Report Posted February 28, 2018 I know this post has been dead a while but just seen it and had to comment on it for you all. The difference in telescopic and match rods isn't easy to explains but for game purpose they classify any rod that breaks down to multi parts or is one piece as a match rod. A telescopic rod is actually in game a rod that breaks down into itself that is what it is in real life as well. Now as for differences in rod match rods will cast farther and will normally bend more telescopic rods will cast shorter and bend less. This equates to several ways of using them in real life telescopic rods are mainly used from docks or piers where you don't want distance as much as hauling up strength. In game terms ...Match rods work well for all fish..telescopic rods work well as well for all fish they can reach but are idea for bottom feeding fish that are close to the shore or cast area. Telescopic rods excel at pitch casting making them very useful for fish that scare easy too that are close to shore. Most people in game tell you to just get match rods and ignore the telescopic rods and for the most part that works..although if you have a telescopic rod in certain situations it is helpful. 1 Quote
