Power Members PH_Hilrond Posted October 11, 2017 Power Members Report Posted October 11, 2017 I think this is something that must be mentioned. When taking your screen shots for the competition it's one thing to try to hide the exact location you caught the fish, but the screen shot must make it very evident the waterway being fished. So please bear this in mind when taking your screen shots. Quote
Power Members PH_Trulight Posted October 11, 2017 Author Power Members Report Posted October 11, 2017 Yeah, i'd hate to have to make it a rule that you have to show, where the fish was caught because we start having problems even verifying the waterway. Quote
Moderators PH_TalonAquila Posted October 11, 2017 Moderators Report Posted October 11, 2017 lmao... and here I was photoshoppin' that St. Croix Northern... Quote

So please bear this in mind when taking your screen shots. I don't think it is necessary, I looked at quite a few screen shots from the last competition in Missouri and could verify most of the locations were at that location. Maybe that is just me hoping people are honest. New York has a nice fall look to it and is pretty unique compared to other locations where the same species exist, for instance Michigan looks alot different and pretty sure the judges of the competition could tell the difference. It is a shame this even comes up, however I guess when something can be won that has monetary value, people might try to pull a fast one. If they are caught they are subject to rule #6. I am also guessing the weather in NY is different than other locations. For example 5am on a rainy day is 53F, and a 5am in Michigan on a rainy day is 58F. <---just an example for another method to verify. I cannot confirm the weather from two different locations can ever be the same, but I am sure someone might know that answer. If the judges do feel it needs to be implemented for people who do not like to disclose their casting location, maybe have a "marker" that is specific to that map to help verify the proper location. For example I went to New York and took two screen shots, one from each peg with what I considered to be a "marker" (dead tree that is visible from both pegs) for Emerald Lake and it does not compromise my casting location. So there are two options, show your casting location or have a screen shot with a "marker" in the picture for the entry to count. Quote

Power Members PH_Trulight Posted October 12, 2017 Author Power Members Report Posted October 12, 2017 It's not an issue at this point in time, but i don't WANT it to become one Nobody has to show their exact location. However just make sure we as judges can identify the waterway no probs. all good, but if you show me just a bush and that's all I see makes it hard LOL. Just don't make it become an issue, and no probs. Have fun! Tight Lines. Quote

Let me clarify this as it came across wrong, was late, I meant don't make me have to make a rule of you staring out over the waterway, If you want to hide your location fine. But i should be able to determine your on the correct waterway by a glance at your screenshot. Edited October 12, 2017 by PH_Trulight Quote
Power Members PH_Trulight Posted October 12, 2017 Author Power Members Report Posted October 12, 2017 I also agree with your screenshots Bigdaddy, those would be fine i know EXACTLY what lake your on Quote
Power Members PH_Trulight Posted October 12, 2017 Author Power Members Report Posted October 12, 2017 I just don't want to start seeing screenshots like this LOL. Quote
Moderators PH_TalonAquila Posted October 12, 2017 Moderators Report Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) I have very limited experience on some of the locations, so the screenshots have helped in at least clueing me in on where to stand, if not where to cast. I'm a creature of habit - when I find a location that produces a profit for the trip, I forget to look for other spots which may produce as well, or better. My bad, but I don't think I'm alone. Reckon I should play in random rooms more often... As far as the screenshots for competitions which take place on the regular maps, as opposed to the 'official' events/tournaments/competitions, I agree that it should not become a problem... how can the judges go fishin' if they're spendin' all their time tryin' to make certain the shot is legitimate? My (unrelated) question is - since this is one the standard maps, why should the spot you're standing on be a concern? I get why for the official events, but for the everyday maps? Power Members PH_Hilrond Posted October 12, 2017 Power Members Report Posted October 12, 2017 Just an FYI, we discovered a potential issue with the Points Normalization as it is currently posted. So, the Points Normalization Formulas will probably be changed, once we have all of the required information to make them more accurate. Quote
