Float fishing after update

Hi guys , did some float fishing tonight for first time after the 1.1.0 update. And I don't know if it's just me , but this is the best floating has been in the game for me. I had no slack issues at all , and previously I always had constant slack problems and reeling slack in. It was immediately noticeable to me that there is no slack. I only got slack when a fish was nibbling and actually pushing the bait towards me. But while drifting without a bite no slack at all.
Something about the striking is also better for me. Not so many misses as previously.
For the first time in this game I actually enjoyed floating. Did I just have a good day ? Or did they improve the float mechanic ?

Anybody else notice an improvement ?

PS: This was at California with carp btw.
