kdog013 Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Thanks for all of the tips so far everyone as I'm playing about 8 hours behind all of you and haven't done this event before. If you guys are having a hard time then God help the rest of us. Any newbie or amateur will have to pay real money to do these missions. Do all of the fish have to be caught after midnight or just the ones that say so in the description? All I see are pumpkins, no tombstones, am I missing something? In an effort to save baitcoins, instead of fishing for a half hour with my coffee before work, I think I'm gonna do the pumpkin tour every morning and let whatever baits I get tell me what mission to do. I think I have enough bat wings, jawbones, and candles, please stop. Quote
Tmif Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Waiting to see what tonights pumpkin run brings before I decide to continue these missions. Had 10 pig's eyes and caught 2 albino gar. At that rate, with 4 baitcoins for 5 eyes, I would need to spend 44 baitcoins to finish that mission. Similarly, I assume, with ogres and dead mice. Quote
SabiScs Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Guys, I recommend doing the sweet tooth challenge stage3 some unique reward !!! 1 1 Quote

Violentvole Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 I'm enjoying myself so far, it's nice to have something new to do. Dreading going back to that Bluegill Skeleton challenge though - that is one loooooong grind.. Quote

Go to Lily Pad Channel and head to the left ( facing the sunken boat ). The Albinos are under your feet at the edge of the weedbed ( 25 feet out ). No Florida Gar to rob your bait, every pigs eye = Albino Gar. 2 Quote
kdog013 Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Just about to head home, glad I took another peek on here first as I'm also in Florida. Thanks VV! Quote

This is great advice and thank you again kind sir, this is much more fun! Sometimes it takes a few minutes before they bite, but in an hour and a half I've caught 5 so far at 20" and just switched to 13", had to stop typing this to catch two more, so make that 7! 1 Quote
Violentvole Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Credit where it's due. I'm not sure if he even reads this board anymore but Headshot showed me this spot last year. I'm just the messenger. 2 Quote

Life And Death Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 (edited) I haven't had an issue with this so far, Vamps and Albino I almost knocked all 13 out in 1 night (in game) had 12 Vamps in one night, took a few nights to get the 13 Ogres though. Way better then last year. The Ghost Pike wasn't to bad either, only "issue" (problem) I'm having is with these Bluegills. I might try and see if I can get them on a lure or something instead of the floats because everything I throw at them something else eats it as well. Edited October 24, 2018 by Life And Death Quote
Kernel Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Any tips for the great pumpkin seed extermination... aka the bluegill skeletons? Quote
Life And Death Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Got it done, by far the longest is the Bluegill all I did was use candy everything else I couldn't catch them on. Least this time around the event is doable, last year it was basically impossible to finish. Might start working on the 100 of each of the 3 Halloween gars now. Quote
wvmtman Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Any tips on how to with the bluegill getting ready to start it 2marrow? Thanks Quote
kdog013 Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 (edited) Ran out of pigs eyes with two to go, but found some this morning and finished it off. Caught the bowfin pretty quickly, all but one casting at the same spot using TC and Hateful's lift and drop on speed 3 (Thank You). There were a few bass mixed in, but at one point had 5 or 6 on consecutive casts. From the floating thickets peg face straight out from the right end of the dock and cast about 100 ft. on the left edge of the lily beds. Threw a bobber out afterwards and took a screenshot Edited October 24, 2018 by kdog013 Added screenshot 2 Quote

What about the maggots I've been getting from the pumpkins? Do they not work for Bluegill or is there just to many other species taking them? Quote

I caught almost 300 fish to get my bluegills. And the last spot, don't use maggots. The freshwater drum went crazy for them. 1 Quote
kdog013 Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Thanks Tmif, much appreciated. Wow 300, definitely doing that one last lol. Quote

I tried everything that I thought would work and everything that said it would work on Bluegills I didn't catch 1 skeleton, so I always went back to the Candy. I got the 200 fish with candies done though haha. I probably caught a total of 220+ fish so not horrible. Everything else was pretty easy specially the Gar because they are all in the same spot as last year but this time they bite faster and you can catch more. Ghost Pike was pretty easy as well, just had the issue with the Bluegill which was more of a grind then anything. Sadly I do not have any tips for them just keep fishing haha. Well I guess I can say how I did it was I always put my kayak behind the power so the current would take my bait casted just to the front left or right side of the kayak then I'd let line out until about 40+ feet let the current take my bait if I didn't get a hit sometimes let it go to 50 feet. If nothing Id reel in to about 20 feet and let the current take it again by letting out line. I rarely reeled in and re casted. I used #1 hook then also sometimes used the smaller #8 hook. I had my lead from 20 all the way to max I just switched it from time to time so I don't know if that played a factor. And that's pretty much it I just kept catching fish and finally got it done. Violentvole Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 I was struggling with the Ghost Pike in Texas - I'd get one or two and then it'd go dead for hours. Went up to Alberta and they're very easy to get there, I'm flying through them now. 2 Quote
