FishingGuy2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Report Posted August 22, 2019 I recently leveled to 23 and purchased level 23 match rod and level 23 reel.. I kept getting double and triple red backwards arrows so I saw that my gear was too over powerful so I switched line reel from 12lb to 8lb still getting triple red arrows tried a 6lb same.. Tried 4lb double red arrows... Finally got a 2lb and worked great only thing now my line is not strong enough for heavy bait and says it will break? What is the point of buying new gear if you're just going to deduct XP for using a strong line for a upgraded rod and reel? 1 Quote

Moderators Palavino Posted September 11, 2019 Moderators Report Posted September 11, 2019 I think its calculated on the strongest part of the set up. Change everything to lets say 8lb test and you dont need to use very thin line. edit / addition: its a choice. you can either maximize xp per fish with a smaller set up, or take a bit less xp and catch more fish in the same time on a stronger set up (cause you have to fight the fisher for shorter time) 1 Quote
FlashMan Posted September 11, 2019 Report Posted September 11, 2019 If you catch fish weighing 5 kg, collect a fishing rod no more powerful than 10 kg Mod edit: Ive translated it in English for you If you catch fish weighing 5 kg, collect a fishing rod no more powerful than 10 kg Quote
theskeindhu Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 Bigger gear=bigger fish, faster. Math wise I'll take the xp deduction to haul in more fish quicker, because the net XP will be greater with more fish. Spend 10 min fighting a Sturgeon with light gear, or catch 3 with heavy gear. 2 Quote
