Wear and tear

Wondering if I might be doing something wrong. My line and my rod seem to be wearing down at the same pace. I am using 6lb flouro and the Omnifloat 14' 10" which is rated to 7.5 lbs.  Could I be reeling in incorrectly??

I have also used omnifloat 14'10" with 6lb test mono line and sometimes I use 8lb mono(chance of damaging ur rod) ,I don't seem to find any problem. I had managed myself to catch snook, drum, gar, 42lb flat head catfish so on.

So question remains which species u r going after and what reel u r using with.

I would suggest prima 3500 or lineglider 4000 according to ur level.

To provide better suggestions we will require more info about your level and what u r currently using with that particular rod.

I'm using the Wincast 2500 reel. Currently in Colorado catching 2.5 rainbow trout. Level 33. The indicators seem normal with line going highest, then rod, the reel. The rod indicator never gets in the red. Started trip at all 100%. Now line is at 68%, rod 65%, and reel 76%.

Wincast 2500 seems to be good because I have also fished with it. U must be fishing for multiple days there also u must be fighting with a fish for long time, try taking ur drag up time to time but not all the way up otherwise u will break ur line.

As u r in Colorado, according to me it's not to give u any trouble until and unless u r doing 7-8 days in game trip.

If u have sufficient money please try to buy higher capacity reel, u will need it.

One more thing omnifloat is not going to help u anymore, u need to buy Nero or featherlight rods because u will be going to places like Michigan, Florida and Alberta.. U will need higher rods to cast further with the combination of reels and lines otherwise u will end up damaging ur equipment real quick.

Thanks for replying.

I don't fight the fish very long. Just use enough drag to get a steady pace of return. Usually 4/6 setting. And yes, I am on day 3 with a 110 lb stringer. Not concerned how much wear, just the rod more than the line. Also, I have the Nero 14' 10" with EspiraMLR 3500 but it hurts my experience pts here.

Buddy don't worry about what experience u r earning, all it matter's is CASH.

If u r losing xp, just don't think about it and try to look this way "we don't have any level after 40“ so why worry about it. If u fish on Florida or Michigan, u will make ton of xp per catch.
