Went to Quanchkin, needed 4. Had 3 of them in 30 minutes lol.

I then got sidetracked with some level 20s who needed help, so I spent an hour or two giving them advice and directing them here.

I may....may, have caught a fish or two from exactly where I told them to fish, at the times I mentioned and on the gear I told them to use. But it was purely for demonstrative purposes, really tried to help these guys and they couldn't catch ( they couldn't skip time either so that didn't help ).

Anyway, I got the uni channel, uni flathead and uni buffalo in less than 30 minutes - I'll take that. The uni spotted....hmmm, I can see that busting my nutsack.

The remaining unis are decreasing ;-)

Yeah V.V., spent 3 RL hours chasing that Redband yesterday. Caught a few trophies but no uni. I even tried live bait at one point, and like you, caught my first Redbreasted Sunfish lol. Too many Rainbows and Browns mixed in the bunch. Not a bad thing, but if your trying to target just one species...a pain in my backside lol.

At Quanchkin, got the uni Spotted and uni Bowfin without much trouble. Caught a few trophy Flathead and trophy Buffalo, but no uni's. I wanted to get the uni Flathead on a crank bait, but like some other places, cranks are a little fowled up here also.

The Colorado Golden Trout was easiest out of the bunch. Like a half a dozen casts. Already had the uni Cutthroat from way back when.

But never the less, check a few more off the list.

Thought the uni Spotted Bass would be a pain due to the distance it's at. Fired the game up today, went to Quanchkin and had it 3rd cast xD

Went up to Alaska to pick up the uni Pink that I'd somehow never had and then moved to Cali to get the uni Striper I still somehow haven't had.

I still haven't had it lol.

Currently sat in NY on a renewed uni Sauger hunt, because this fish has been consistently denied to me since they appeared. Trophies? Yep. Uni? Nope. Spent far too much time there for what it is, but it has to be ticked off the ever diminishing list...

As u are far experienced then me in game and in RL fishing but then again m offering my small knowledge that I have.

Try Rainy days at night right after 10 pm 5" inch glow worm with #4/0 jig. Cast right in front of slope between the rocks and use twitching as u do it all the time.

I have personally tested that time and day but haven't had any luck other nights.

Hey Roy, thanks for the link dude.

I have tried all nights but no joy so far, but, it's fishing ;) It'll drop for me at some point I'm sure. At least I know where this one is, unlike the Whitefish.

I'm rotating between the last few unis I need so as not to get frustrated, but just knowing where they are and the times they're active doesn't guarantee I'll catch one. RNG rules all..

Striper finally done, by doing the same thing at the same times I've done 50 times before lol.

9 left.

Sauger flicked the fishy V at me again for 3 or 4 real hours earlier, got a feeling either that or the Redband is going to be my last.

Still, it's a great feeling when you finally get whatever you were chasing. Getting all the unis won't stop me playing, far from it. Will actually be able to make some money again once I have them all, down to 475k with all the traveling and skipping time to accom the unis instead of filling my net.

Redband....hope to never hear that name again lol. But right now, I don't have a choice. Didn't get a chance to fish yesterday. Spent 12 hours, including travel time etc., in court appearing as an expert witness in a land dispute yesterday. By the time I got home, I was beat.

7 left for me. Going to work on these last few for a bit this weekend.

I promised Walleyewhisperer, ( I didn't forget Joe lol.), that I would take a trip with him to Michigan and let him pick my brain a bit.

Tell me about the Stripper....oh, I meant Striper lol.

Well that was a bit weird..

After trying for the uni tiger muskie and uni clear loads of times, went back earlier and had the uni tiger muskie after 6 casts.

Walked over to the clear muskie spot and had the uni first cast!

2 unis in about 90 seconds lol.

6 left..

Well I managed to knock of the Uni Flathead, Smallmouth Buffalo, Chain Pickerel, Sauger, Bull Trout (what a pain) and Stiper this weekend.

Only one left...and yes....it's the forbidden Redband Trout lol.

The Bull Trout gave me some issues. Not the fish itself, but Alaska. Bobbers bouncing of the water. Lure casting going straight up in the air and other times directly behind you. Cranks running sparaticaly every which way but straight lol. Finally had to revert to live bait.

Striper was a bit troublesome also. Could not get one to take a crank. Tried V.V.'s set up using a 1-1/2oz. #4/0 jighead with a red and white jig. Caught a few trophies. Caught a few trophies on a 2 0z. #6/0 Lemon Tiger Spoon, but no uni. Again had to revert to live bait.

But all in all, it was a fruitful weekend. Need to get this last uni out of the way so I can start fishing with my buds again lol. Uni chasing is expensive, time consuming and aggrevating at times. But I love every minute of it lol.

Jim, I'm going to rope you in to help me get the uni Brownie. It simply will not drop for me. You know how many times I've tried for it and know times/weather/location.

I'm going to tie a bottle of vodka to some string and head toward Michigan ;)

I finally managed to get the regular uni Muskie to drop just now ( that was another that should have been easy but defied me ).

I'll deal with the Tiger trout once the Brownie is out of the way.

Brown, Tiger, Rainbow, Redband ( yuck ) trout left, and my personal ballbreaker - the Sauger.

But I now have 5 days off work at my disposal ( this job kills me, 5 days off every week ).

So, it's a free week for me as I have absolutely no plans other than scratching my nuts when I wake up, so my aim is to tick them all off and get it done. Can actually fish for fun again then and maybe make some money too.

But...if you guys want to party up later, I'm sure I can put my uni hunt on hold to have some banter with the crew lol.

That Redband is going to destroy me...

Too funny V.V.! Would that be anything like trying a carrot to a string and stick and dangling out in front on your horse or mule to get him to follow you lol.

It would be my privelage to accompany you to Michigan. I still owe Walleyewhisperer a trip up there, ( I haven't forgotten Joe).

I'm already at Falcon Lake. Didn't do much fishing. By the time I went there I had just about enough fishing for the day lol, but I can party up later, were ever the posse's at would be fine with me. Maybe some of the guys have yet to get their uni Rainbow and Redband?

BTW, if anyones interested, and have yet to catch the uni Suager, 10pm to around midnight on a rainy day seems to be the most productive. I used a 1/2 0z. #2/0 jig head with a 3" glow worm. Set my kayak about 170' from the "big rock face", and I believe I was using a 2 or 3 speed twitch. Help me out here V.V., is that the data I sent you via PSN? My memory ain't what it used to be lol.

Correct gear but you used a speed 1 twitch mate.

Congrats on getting all the unis

Thank you good sir. My apologies for bombing you PSN account with photos etc. last night lol. After a few cocktails, a few uni's, and the encouragement of Chris I was quite excited about the accomplishment.

After trying time after time, I managed not just one Uni Redband, but 2 within an hour of each other lol. Just plain luck I guess.

And  congratulations on your uni Brown Trout and Tiger Trout. I know that the Brown has been a real thorn in you side. From the photos you sent, looks as though you took the Uni Tiger from the back side of the bouy casting toward the dock? That's what worked for me.

Yes mate, took it from the back of the bouy on the 'yak after you told me you did, didn't even bother trying from the dock.

Was surprised how easy it was after the Brownie took me so long. Managed to lose early on what I'm sure was a uni right close to the boat ( certainly a large trophy ), when it slacklined me thanks to that invisible wall that wouldn't allow me to sweep the rod any further back. Stuck it out and took less than an hour after wading through God knows how many Salmon!

Went to hit up my old buddy the Sauger where everything came to a crashing halt xD

Yeah, I tried for ages it seems to get the Tiger Trout from the dock, but after the kayaks came out, I thought I'd try sneaking up that son of gun from behind lol.

And I was also surprised how easy it was from that vantage point. I don't remember exactly how many casts it took, but it wasn't many.

Your old buddy Mr. Sauger Head. Did you get a chance to try out the set up and time I sent you? If I had to guess, that's probably gonna be the best bet for the uni.

So next on my list is to catch all the species. I believe you've already accomplished that feat if I remember correctly. Should be interesting to say the least lol.

I gave it an hour or so for the Sauger on your setup but it was 5am here and I was flagging a bit. Will jump back in there shortly and the game is staying on until I go to bed, which will be late.

Getting all the species was easy, when I checked there were only 3 I hadn't had and they were all smaller species. There's nothing to be gained by it, just personal satisfaction.

I have spent weeks (rt) looking for the Uni LMB in Florida. Tried every time on the ubersheet and what youtube shows. Every bait/lure recommended. I've caught a dozen trophies over 8 lbs. and lots more under that.I understand it's a RNG thing and all and will keep at it. Putting aside the fact that both places probably run off the same RNG, did anyone find it easier to catch in LA?

Had them both, both easy.

Upturned boat in Florida ( I forget the name of the peg, lily pad channel? ), Swampy, open space in LA. Popper in FL, 6' crank in LA.

Blasted through a few in the last coupla days and now only 2 left, Rainbow and Redband. Both in Oregon.

Even got the Sauger!!

Tmif, I would say Florida is the easier of the two. If memory serves I had it on my 3rd cast with a popper, whereas in LA you have to deal with Flatheads too on cranks. However, not tried a popper for the LA uni LMB tbh, having already caught it.

These are the only two photos I have available showing Uni Large Mouth catches. Both of these came from the Lilly Pad Peg, right hand side of the dock, opposite and 180 degrees of were the overturned boat is located. I've posted, and you may find by searching the forums, an in depth guide to catching the Uni in this area. Particular spot, lures, retrieve methods, times etc.

By observing these photos you will notice that both were caught on a partly cloudy day at 8:09 pm and 8:23 pm. The Uber Sheet lists 5:00pm to 8:00pm to be the prime Uni time on a partly cloudy day, but the time stamps tell a differant story. I've always had the best luck for LM uni between 8 & 9pm on partly cloudy day at.

I would not hold much faith in catching one on a crank bait. It used to be the go to lure for me and alot of others, but there is, IMO, still an issue with said cranks. I've caught them on a #4/0 green pumpkin bass jig, and as you can see in the photo a topwater popper.

If you cant' find my previous posts, hit me with a friends request on PS4, (BJTATER), and I would be glad to discuss it with you in chat.

And that's me done, picked up the uni Redband and Rainbow today.

All unis complete :D

I give a lot of credit to you guys that are getting all of these uniques completed.  My experience so far is I’m in the right spot, at the right time, with the right bait/lure, and I still can’t catch them.  Even spending many real time hours trying.  It takes a lot of time and patience to complete all of those and I congratulate you and Jim for all that hard work!
