Suggestions for set up

Please suggest a set up for Alaska lake and fishing salmon with using preferred baits.my level is 41.

White Moose Lake - Atlantic Salmon

Bait
Small Minnows or Large Minnows (they also like Shiners too).

Setup
I used a Feeder Rod setup when I was there and using bait;
Big Alli 450 Rod
Hornet Swarm 4000 Reel
Hook Size #6/0

Note
My best results were with a Casting Rod setup using a Crankbait 3.5m, #2/0 or a Narrow Spoon 21g, #3/0

That is down to the Lure Weight.

The Big Alli 450 has a Lure Weight of 14g to 42g.

The Crankbait and Narrow Spoon that I mention are both 21g. Should be an optimal set up.

The Big Alli is a feeder rod, which requires bait, and in Alberta, spawn sack works for the lake trout and Atlantic salmon.  Your rod however is too light for the trophy fish.

Try a Brutus (float) or Heavy Chaser (bottom)

Good catch Tonto. I meant 100g Feeder Cage, not lures. That should give an optimal cast on the Big Alli.

You need to put a similar weight Reel on the Match Rod.
Match Rods use Spin Reels.

Brutus 300
Line Weight Max - 16Kg

ThunderSpin 4500
Max Drag - 16Kg

Fluoro Line 0.55
Test Weight - 15.8Kg

I'll let you figure out the bobber and baits.

 What Spug says above is fine.   Later you will swap the reel for an ExcelSpinner 5000.

 

btw, there aren’t many Greeks in this game.   I am currently in Athens, and scheduled to return to The US when flights open again.

Hook depends on what you're trying to catch.

Big mouth, big hook.
Little mouth, little hook.

Thanks spug.the bobber I use is (glow float ,size 10 cm,Max floating weight x high)is ok?and the hook is number 6.and I’m using small minnows.i caught Only 2 in 1 hour Is it normal?

Bigger Hook size needed for Salmon.

Smallest Hook - #10
Biggest Hook - #10/0

It goes #10, #9, #8, ... , #1, #1/0, ... , #9/0, #10/0

When going for the Salmon you should also get some Splake and Lake Trout.

bobber glow float 10 cm.

any advise ?

Apart from the PikeSlasher that tackle setup might be to heavy for the fish there. Suggest you try looking for tackle setups around 2.5 kg - 5 kg (roughly 5 - 10 lb) to use there.

Have you tried Spinning there ? You could get a Jigwinner 270 rod, a EspiraMLR 3500 reel, some 0.30 mm (0.012") 5.4 kg mono line, some 5.0 kg Titanium leaders (if fishing during the day, not required at night time). Narrowspoons 1/0 and 2/0 can be good there.

Not at Home at the moment but, the highest level Fenix (450 ?) match rod paired with a LineGlider 4000 reel should be a good setup. Have a look and see what you think.

Now I have the following set up:rod Caesar 500 ,reel crucianhunter 4000,line mono 0,4 ,hook #6/0 ,bobber chubby,and small minnows.but the fish don’t bite ,and I can’t cast the line far (10m Max)please advise.

Standing on the shore with the rod in your hand, depress the right hand controller joystick (F11 on PC) down once to change the casting style so you are no longer holding the bait in your other hand. Suggest using a smaller hook (1/0 - 2/0) when fishing at New York.

Changing the casting style on the PS4 is the same as Xbox, place thumb on top of right stick, push straight down once (no, I don't mean look down). HTH.
