Has anyone got to use boat/kayak on linux

My brother and I are loving the game, but we can not use kayak or a boat in linux version.  We are both using Linux Mint 20.  Im on a lenovo S340 i7, he has Dell E5570 i5.  The boats are underwater...  I can run it on my windows iMac (bootcamp).  But on pure linux mint 20 no go.

Any ideas as to problem?

I use a kayak, it works fine.

Only problem is that big fish tend to pull me under water. I re-surface put looks weird, I do not know if its the same for other platforms.

Yes the rolling is normal but has no effect on you or the kayak, there is a challenge to roll a number of times and earn some baitcoins and if you balance the kayak by holding the rod over the front and not putting the anchor on you can be towed by the fish and there is a challenge for that as well. Also it is possible to land big fish faster from the kayak as it follows the fish and you are basically winding yourself to it rather than trying to wind it to you.
