Tmif Posted January 18, 2018 Report Posted January 18, 2018 Was fishing with someone earlier who caught 3 unique largemouth bass in short order. When asked he said he used a 2 speed 3 dot popper technique. I have searched and searched and can't find any video showing 3 dots while popping. Anyone done it? 2 Quote
Jeff1210 Posted January 18, 2018 Report Posted January 18, 2018 I haven't found a way to actually do it on purpose. The only time it flashes 3 dots its after a fish hits and I miss the set or I pop the lure off a snag and there is a giant loop of slack in the line. Tried to recreate it on purpose in all ways with lifts, speed changes and everything and never manage 3 dots. Seems to not matter much as 2 dots works pretty well, though it would be nice to know if its at least possible. Same with walkers. For the record I've seen uni's caught like that even with bait, so sometimes its just your day. Quote
Violentvole Posted January 18, 2018 Report Posted January 18, 2018 If it's doable, I've yet to discover how. 2 dots is the best I can get despite using surface lures a lot. Come across several people who claim to be able to do it, but they always go quiet or leave when pressed for details. 3 2 Quote
GlitchingFishing2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 The only way to get 3 dots is if a fish has hit the lure and still might hit it again from what I've seen. Top water is broken though needs to be fixed never had a fish miss lure so many times in real life and I've been top water fish for yearsss! It makes the game frustrating not fun. 1 Quote

It makes the game frustrating not fun. I was doing the Kaniq topwater competition last night and must say, truer words were never spoken. Lost more fish than I ever have previously in game. Before the competition while practicing, I caught nearly every fish that hit my popper. I caught maybe 25% during the actual event. Frustrating indeed. I did catch a uni sockeye during the competition, so that kinda made up for it. Quote
J.Mitchell WV Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) Rarely do I miss one on topwater when just fishing for fun. But enter a competition... Lets just say that thankfuly I have a non violent demeanor. If not, I'm sure that there would be a PS4 controller that would need to be surgicaly removed from someones arse lol. Just ask Hate_ful how many strikes he missed in the Kaniq Topwater Comp. this weekend. Edited March 26, 2018 by J.Mitchell WV 1 1 Quote
nordak76 Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 I don't wish ill will on my fellow competitors, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one. Man, I nearly launched my controller at the TV, lol. Quote
Hate_ful Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 30 strikes missed in Top water rodeo before competition caught 25 out of 25 1 Quote

J.Mitchell WV Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) And don't even get me started on the Steel Head Showdown. Should have won that competition a dozen times by now lol. Edited March 26, 2018 by J.Mitchell WV Quote
J.Mitchell WV Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 Come on Chris, you know that's your favorite comp lol. Quote

I was able to reproduce the 3 dot popping a couple of times but in the strangest fassion. And this being on the PC platform so not sure it would work via a PS4. By clicking both the left and right mouse buttons simotainiously and consistently would light up all three. Of course finding out the correct speed to click is the tricky part. Reel speed is always set to 2 when I’m trying to achieve this. That said, it doesn’t really offer an ideal lure presentation imo. Edited March 26, 2018 by PH_Bear For clarity Quote

I only entered it once and it was horrifying all the comps are, its rng or nothin lol. I'm glad that it is not only affecting me. Maybe there will be some sort of a fix implemented but I have seen posts that date back a couple of years with the same problem. 1 Quote
nordak76 Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 So it's starting to sound like if winning is the goal of entering the competitions, I'm pretty much wasting time? Sounds more akin to playing the lottery. 2 Quote

Sorry guys, I may have mislead you with my post as I haven’t been able to reproduce that method again. There have been a few updates since I was able to so nevermind the gibberish. 1 Quote
