Smeuli_s Posted November 4, 2020 Report Posted November 4, 2020 This happened to me a day ago. I was normally fishing in Falcon Lake, then I accidentally casted on my feet and couldn't reel it in again. I tried cut it but it didn't work either, then I restarted the game and it wouldn't work too. Please help Quote
PH_Carpman99 Posted November 4, 2020 Report Posted November 4, 2020 After you restarted the game, suggest checking that your reel is in gear (not in reverse) and that your drag has not been set too low, try using a different setup. You could also try going to a different peg (spawn point). HTH. Quote
Smeuli_s Posted November 5, 2020 Author Report Posted November 5, 2020 None of those work. My reel was in gear, drag wasn't low and I changed setups. I also tried different spawn points and it's just the same. Quote

BabyBoomer_60 Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 This is a bit off track but I thought i would just mention that when I first started grinding out pike at St Croix I was using a lure with a rod and reel that was a bit too light and after catching quite a few fish over several days my gear began to get worn - fairly worn but not completely maybe the reel was around 60% i had used the drag a lot as nearly every fish took line from my light setup. Then I hooked a muskie (of course) the fish gave me the run around big time but I kept fighting giving and taking line throughout the course of the tussle. Then after a while my drag gave out - the reel was still around 50 or 60% but the drag just slipped like crazy, like it had burnt out! - even when I cranked the drag up to max and the line should have broken the drag just paid out line and the line tension would not go above around 30 - 40 % Just thought I'd mention it as it seems to me that it is possible to damage your drag beyond where the reel becomes usable even though the repair value for the reel may still seem quite reasonable. I returned home thinking I had busted my gear, but once I repaired the reel and used it again all was fixed and ok again. All in days fishing I guess! Tight Lines Quote
TylerC Posted September 1, 2023 Report Posted September 1, 2023 When I throw the line out it never let's me reel the cast back in and I dont understand why? Nothing is damaged and I'm only level 3, help? Quote
PH_Carpman99 Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 Find out which keys/buttons control the reels speed and drag setting (depends on which platform you're using) - (minus) for less drag and = for more drag, use the mouse wheel to change the reel speed ( or the L and K keys) on the Steam (and Microsoft store) platforms. Use (function key) F1 to bring up the keyboard map (if on PC). Your description sounds like the drag is set too low. Quote
Lancooter Posted November 10, 2023 Report Posted November 10, 2023 We have been playing Fishing Planet, enjoyed it UNTIL all of a sudden...after 2 lbs of fish in keepnet, can reel in my line anymore. We have tried switching line, gear, speed, reversing and letting line out, starting/restarting/waiting to restart console/game....nothing works. We bought a 3day pass and license to Mud River and now can't play after fishing 1 day.....HELP! Quote
PH_Carpman99 Posted November 12, 2023 Report Posted November 12, 2023 On a console, the D-pad (the circle with slightly raised cross on it, usually to the left of the left joystick) the top (up) and the bottom (down) controls the drag setting. Left and right adjusts the reel speed. Quote
