Mitchellb916 Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 I've been trying for 3 days straight now to try and catch this fish but nothing to show for it I have the backlash line I started off fishing in front of the house in to the middle of the lake and at different distances and depths, and I've moved all around the lake. I've used dough balls and semolina balls still nothing what am I doing wrong? Quote
BabyBoomer_60 Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 Hi Mitchell, I know it sort of goes without saying but it is worth rechecking everything - i expect you have done all this already, but maybe check you have: the mission tracked, and all prerequisites to catch the fish have been complied with ie you just have to catch the fish left in the tracked mission notification. Then, use a fairly small hook eg 1# or 2# as the fish has a fairly small mouth and won't get the hook in it's mouth otherwise. Then fish at peak times, close to the bottom out near the middle of the lake. It took me a while and I had to mark the deeper areas in the middle of the lake to help with my casting. Try using the baits that are listed for small mouthed buffalo under the fish description eg semolina balls, dough balls and also try bread with honey. If not try watching some of the videos on you tube Hope this helps a bit Tight Lines 1 Quote
PH_Carpman99 Posted November 5, 2020 Report Posted November 5, 2020 In front of the house casting as close to the middle as you can should be fine, you need to use the invisible line on a Telescopic or Match rod (float) setup, try using a small hook (#8 - #2) set at max depth. Corn worked for me, but the baits your using should work as well. The most likely time to catch it is in the early morning or the middle of the day (check the weather forecast for peak times). HTH. 1 Quote

Miloplayer09 Posted July 23, 2023 Report Posted July 23, 2023 Can i cast the mad eye buffalo every day? But can i cast is more than once a day? Because i have casted it once. Quote
PH_Carpman99 Posted July 23, 2023 Report Posted July 23, 2023 No, once you have caught the Mad Eye Buffalo, the mission will be completed and you will not be able to catch it again. Quote
Titanium9764 Posted October 3, 2024 Report Posted October 3, 2024 I can't seem to cast far enough I'm using the starter telescopic rod I'm using #1 hook semolina dough balls the invisible line yes I'm tracking the mission fishing at the right times I just can't get the bait out there Quote
PH_Carpman99 Posted October 3, 2024 Report Posted October 3, 2024 Maybe try using a heavier float (bobber) like a Chubby to get more distance, set float depth to max depth. A Match rod setup should be able to cast further than a Telescopic setup. Quote

PH_Carpman99 Posted October 4, 2024 Report Posted October 4, 2024 With the house behind you, go to the shoreline and try to cast to the middle of the "pond" (i.e. as far as you can). Before you cast, where is your bait? Is it in your hand or is it hanging from the rod tip? If it is in your hand you need to change the casting style before casting (on the Steam version you press the (function) key F11 to do this. Also, how big is your keepnet? The mad-eye buffalo gets to about 6 kg (13 lb), if the max fish size of your keepnet is less than this then you'd have to let it go (missing out on around $1000 credits), i.e. maybe waiting until you can keep a fish that big.
