Last year I played the Christmas Event and was having fun catching the Furry Trout and Antler Salmon although kept running out of fireworks. Was looking forward to it this year but now it seems you cannot get any free stuff from the Santa Bags or boxes until you unlock the Santa light hat. To do that you need to complete the first mission and I did not see any other way of doing it without spending bait coins. So I invested 148 for two event packs and I have started the event. With one of the packs you get 25 coins that can be used in the dukeboxes that plays music and helps you catch the xmas event fish. The first event you need to catch a large number of 3 specific fish but frustratingly you catch other fish on the bait as well. I will be amazed if I can complete it before running out of stuff and then I am back where I am started and needing to spend bait coins again. Am I missing something, Is this the only option or are there other ways to open to Santa Bags/ boxes or get the Santa light hat?

Ok it is sorted thanks to a helpful youtube video. There are stockings in the Christmas locations that give you free stuff. Yippeee!!! I am sure you still need to spend bait coins though to complete it LOL.

Does anyone know which sites have stockings as many that I have visited have parcels and sacks but no stockings?

Stockings aren't easy to spot but they're at every map location with a Santa hat above it except for White Moose Lake.

After catching 200 plus fish to earn the headlamp I find a I can't use it without a basic baseball cap that I don't have anymore!!!

They are available for one of the regular missions, forget which ones, mastering maybe? If you don't have one of those available you'll have to travel around to get the 25 bags of pure snow for the snowman cap.

Thanks had all the challenge caps but got rid of as I wear the headlamp. Moose lake was the one that made me wonder where the stockings were as the waters with snow piles don't have stockings. Snowmans cap it is then!!!

Right problem number 2 now, yesterday I ended up buying 300 bait coins so I can buy silver to play the dukeboxes. Purchased, bought the event pack everything OK. Today I needed to repeat and purchase the event pack again for the silver. I clicked on it once and it came up with an "error index is outside the bounds of the array" message ???? I closed the game down and re-started this time I had a new message saying not enough money in the account despite still having 281 BC. Closed it down again and when I went in I now only had 5 BC??? 🙄 and no Silver!!! I have now had to contact the support to request them to put things right. This Christmas event is a bit of pain actually, it is full of bugs and a bit boring having to catch so many uniterresting fish. The antler salmon and furry trout are fun but with no way of getting fireworks until you get the Santas light hat you are basically stuck catching Gobbies, and Gobbies and Gobbies.

Fireworks are to catch Furry Trout and Antler Salmon at White Moose Lake. You get them in the Xmas boxes and sacks. Basically they are challenges and you win hats, coats and jackets when you catch a certain number. If you have fireworks press f and right mouse button to set them off.

You can buy fire shark firework cost 10 baitcoins and hellfish fireworks cost 15 baitcoins and Squid pro firework cost 25 baitcoins and monkey firework cost 50 baitcoins!

I dont see that option. I am wondering if that is for Premium users only?

Is the any difference between the fireworks?

Just the duration that they light off for. From shortest to longest it's fireshark, hellfish, squid pro, and 12 monkeys. There was an issue with the 12 monkeys last year not lasting as long as they should, don't know if it was fixed or not.

I have just completed the Christmas mission and I had to invest money in the game for the first time ever in order to do it. The key is the Silver coins as you need to play the jukeboxes in order to catch the Gobies etc. No Jukebox and I only caught non event fish. So I purchased the 69 Coin pack which gives you 25 Silver Coins. I needed around 100 Silvers to do it in total and at the start I think in the Santas Socks I only optained 5 perhaps six, checking over 10 places everyday. I have just found out today though the Blue Santa Sacks give you Silvers as well but I only unlocked that today when I managed to get the blue light helmet. Although I think they have unlocked the blue sacks today for everyone and removed the presents. This is good for the people that need Silver coins but bad for me who now needs fireworks that were showing up in the presents. Right now I have no idea how to get Fireworks apart from purchasing one of the packs with real money. In summary I think this event needs some redesigning, anyone starting needs silver coins and you need a lot for the quantity of fish you need to catch. They hardly show up in the Socks and so you need the Blue Santa bags and you cannot unlock them until you complete the first part when you need the Silver coins. So you are in a catch 22 situation and it is difficult to proceed without using your Bait Coins. At the start by checking the socks you should at least get 3, 4 or 5 Silver coins a day so you can advance in the game otherwise you are completely stuck.

I was really looking forward to this event but as soon as I saw its whole design with the jukebox etc I opted out. It seemed like too much time and too much frustration instead of fun. I'm not really regretting it from all I've read so far and other friends' experience.

All the events I've played so far at some point I was really frustrated, could just be the fact I'm not keen on paying actual money to do them.

Yep christmas time, the time for giving. Designed for us to give them more money to play a jukebox repeatedly

Or you can use baitcoins to speed up the process, you know those things you can earn in the game for 100% free for clearing achievements, placing top 3 in comps or be on winning team in custom comps, when you level/rank up, when you finnish other missions, when you login in daily. Dont need to spend a dime to make these missions.

Yeah and then you can buy more bait coins later when you need them for a lure/markers/templates, or I suppose you can just wear the "free" fishing cosmetics instead. Nothing about the event is "free" you wil spend more BC than you get back from the missions. And the few bait coins you get in-game is so limited, last thing you need to spend them on is playing a jukebox lol.

Nothing about this even is in the spirit of giving. Its a piece of crap grind behind a paywall to even get going. Only giving part is players giving them money for bait coins and xmas  packs. Not even the baits from the socks is free, you spend a ton on traveling costs for it and pay with more grind.
