Tonto
just try a 1/0 Walker in Tiber. Cast near the rocks where you fish for trout
PH_Carpman99
Yes, a small walker should be a good choice. From the old wall (at Tiber) down stream to the small creek junctions. They seem to like hanging in the smaller arms of the river(s), particularly where two arms of a river meet. You can also get them in the Russian waterway. Mike.j89
Thanks, Ive tried both of your suggestions, I'm getting bites, just cant seem to set the hook on the strike, I've tried striking straight away, leaving it for a second (lure is being pulled by the fish through the water) and reeling then striking, is my strike method off? PH_Carpman99
Most likely your getting strikes from the feisty perch which are about the same size of your lure making it difficult to get a hook up. When to strike can depend on the type and size of the fish, sometimes you'll see a bow wave form behind the lure, the fish is interested, a switch to a straight retrieve might invoke a strike, other fish will smack the lure if you stop the retrieve completely (different strokes for different folks). Generally most fish do a smash and grab on surface lures so once they hit it should be time to strike before they try to spit it out.
