Guest evan Posted February 21, 2018 Report Posted February 21, 2018 hi I'm quite new to this game and I'm having trouble putting on shiners too my line it says the tackle is too heavy and might break, how do I change this? I'm rocking a telefloat 21' 3" rod, callistoXSR 1400 reel, monno .008 line , chubby float, #6 hook. Help would be very appreciated, thankyou Quote
Treebeard60 Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 Ok, what are you fishing for? It's the chubby float + the shiner that is making the game say that. Don't worry too much about it as if any damage is caused it will be minimal. If it's cats you are after try using small and medium cutbait. If you are after bowfin, then you should really get a Fenix 12 10. 1 Quote
evan Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) okay, its the fishing rod that is the problem then?-also where would I get the fenix 12 10 exactly? and its the bowfin ive been after Edited February 22, 2018 by evan Quote
Treebeard60 Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 The fenix is available in the main shop. It will depend on your level as to whether you can get it. It is twelve foot ten inches or two meters twenty if you're in metric. Quote
evan Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) oh okay I see it now, level 24. so should I be waiting until later on for fishing with heavy bait? however I do see channel catfish in the starter pond but never seem to catch full grown ones just young, any tips on that? Treebeard60 Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 Yeah I'm sure you can get it. Sorry not 2m 20 cm 3m 80cm Quote
Treebeard60 Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 My bad, thought you could get that. Perhaps a Nero or something similar. Quote

mdram Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 whats the rod rated at? what the hook weight you are putting on it? what bobber? what lure? Quote
evan Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 what do you mean by rated. hook is size 8 slim bobber bait is shiner Quote
evan Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 its when I add the shiner or crawfish it happens Quote
mdram Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 try a heavier line, somthing closer to the max for the rod Quote
evan Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) line is too strong for reel , so I need a better reel as well? Edited February 22, 2018 by evan Quote
mdram Posted February 22, 2018 Report Posted February 22, 2018 yep line should be week link so match drag real to rod max rating add line that is close without going over Quote
Jaxon m Posted January 20, 2020 Report Posted January 20, 2020 Im only level 7 and when I use minnows in the Colorado lake, it breaks the line every time. What do I need for that not not to happen? ( I have all the starter gear) Quote

( I have all the starter gear) The rule of thumb is Maximum rod strength >= Maximum Reel tension >= Line test When fishing with float tackle use a heavy bobber for live or heavy bait like minnows, shiners, crawfish, etc... If I remember ....in Colorado you can do very well with lure fishing, no need for using live bait. Are you doing a mission requiring minnows? Quote
J.Mitchell WV Posted February 3, 2020 Report Posted February 3, 2020 First thing you guys need do is put your Match Rods etc. in your home storage, and use them to catch fish that can't be caught on artificial bait imo lol. To easy to catch fish float fishing and bottom fishing. If you want a real challenge...Go artifiical. Will make you a much better fisherman in long run lol. Quote
