Great Deal on a Saltwater Pack ($19.99) BUT THERE's A BIG BUT....

I could NOT find any entry in the forums that comes close to answering my question and solving a disturbing problem. Please push through the narrative below - I need help, Please.

The Saltwater pack was chock full of goodies - so I purchased it even though it was especially for an excursion to CRAB ISLAND. I am at level 32 when I bought it and decided to wait - it was just a great deal of licenses tackle storage $$$ and coins! tHE NEXT DAY WHEN i SIGNED INTO GAME I was prompted to CLAIM it and I did. Crab Island is available to me and I was able to equip the great rod and reel - went to St Croix - caugh half my fish on it but the great hook size and bait size didnt result in any larger catch than usual - then later that session it did. I started using hooks #8/0 and had a great time BUT 2/3 rds into the session my REEL would show me reeling at the crank and hand - but it did NOT retrieve line with or without a fish on. I purchase another spool of line and made sure the reel was full and had the right line (it came  with package) BUT THAT NEVER SOLVED THE PROBLEM. sO NOW THAT ROD AND REEL DOESN'T REEL IN even though the animation is there, no line is retrieved it just sits there - each and every time this happened I had to ALT-F4 out of game, come back and change rod & reel choice. The ONLY thing I can think of that makes sense is that I shouldn't have been able to use the rod at level 32 (now 33) and if was just slow on locking-up the rod and reel. But even then, the purchase unlocked hooks, lines, leaders, lures, above my current level - so it appears you DO intend for me to be able to fish with this but as it is - It's a BIG NO_GO!  I need help or a refund or a word from the knowledgeable of how to fix it myself.

The equipment that comes with DLC is meant to be available for use immediately, it's not a too low-level to use problem. Most likely you've accidently bumped your drag setting too low.  On a PC use - for less and + for more drag, on console use Dpad left for less and Dpad right for more drag.   

P.S. You only have 7 days (from when you claimed the DLC) to access Blue Crab Island before the license and pond pass expire, you can go back to Michigan later.
