Thinking about deletion of amateur comps on Steam

As long as we've got a lot of requests to delete amateur comps on Steam, start to think about getting rid of them, and let amateur players jump into normal comps. Alternative is to reduce the number of players in amateur comps, but this could cause abuse of the comps system to grab some x-series lures.

What do you think guys? Remove the amateur comps and let's do the normal one instead of their place?

Remove them. Most of amateur competitions are never even finished (low registrations) and they take space for Normal competitions. Sometimes to extreme level where there are amateurs 2-3 in a row.

Just keep Normal competitions and remove the level cap on School Bass.

Low level players can still play many Normal competitions in their level rank. Lot of comps are on low level lakes. It will be harder but they will at least learn something for the future when they are higher level and better at competitions.

How about giving the amateurs their own comp at Lone Star (or another low-level waterway), maybe something like level 10 max (or a number of top 3 finishes (3?)) sees them having to move on to other comps, using starting (low level) tackle, maybe involving a mission or two (host your own user comp or join a comp).

I believe the anglers eligible for the amateur comps don't have the money to travel, they're too busy saving to upgrade their gear and tackle.

Then beginners would also have a chance to win comps, which would certainly be very good for the game.
But how can this be implemented?

As an example: 90 players have registered in total.
30 players go into room 1 (amateur room, skill points 0-199),
30 players go into room 2 (silver room, skill points 200-999),
30 players go into room 3 (masters room, skill points > 1000).
If only 30 players have registered, there is only one room.
Maybe something like this?

I am also for removing them and adding amateur brackets. You are automatically eligible to play in that extra bracket within level of lake +5 levels or so.

I strongly believe that there needs to be a good way into competitions and that low level players should not be punished for not having the gear and experience.

My experience on multiple platforms was the same:

You either accidentally level out of the range of the competitions too fast because it is not on often enough, or simply cancelled a few times.

You don't have the money to travel there and / or buy the equipment because you try to save for something else.

Yeah hopefully they do something like that

What if we could have competitions based on your skill rating have comps for people with low skills and comps for people with high skills to make it a little more fair for everyone

Would not work because there is no "skill rating" metric, people can manipulate it, you can deliberately do badly to lower your rating, and the leaderboard top100 is a joke, filled with people who dump fish from keepnet as not to lose any rating.

@Killerwhale While you guys are working on fixing the comps, I would like to raise another thing to have a look at. Some competitions like Battle of Kaniq shows up 2-4x a week, and some others show up maybe once every 2 weeks. I assume its because they are prioritized based on the different lakes, lakes with more competitions leads to those competitions being a lot more rare and showing up much less frequently.

They also seem to be selected at random, I remember when Selenge released, Crank the river was played 8x, before bobber burbot showed up the 2nd time.

Could you guys even out the frequency each competition is available a bit?
