This is as much an IRL question as it is for FP.

I know barometric pressure affects fish, I'm just wondering if there's a general rule to it.  If a fish bites anywhere from say 19ft depth to 45ft, do they generally go higher when the barometric pressure is lower, and lower when the barometric pressure is higher?  Or opposite?

Also anyone know if FP tendencies in this manner follow IRL fishing?

I was one of the pioneers of zig rig fishing here in the UK ( published several magazine articles and wrote a guide online which is plagiarised to this day ). The technique involves fishing a ledgered bait off the bottom regardless of depth of the venue.

IRL high pressure makes fish more likely to be found at all depths through the water column, particularly midwater to surface layers, while low pressure sees the fish more willing to spend extended lengths of time on the deck.

This is a very short answer which glosses over several points or leaves them out entirely, not to mention doesn't deal with individual species and their behavourial habits, but the above is well known and accepted here in the UK. I could rabbit on for hours.

As for in game? Unsure. Working on it ( or was 'til the Paddies Day event started ).

Rising Barometer

When the barometer is rising, weather conditions are relatively clear or improving. Fish movement becomes slightly more active. The best lures to use when the barometer is rising are brightly colored ones, such as fluorescents. Focus on casting the lure next to cover if the fish are suspended in shallow water; let the lure sink to intermediate and deeper depths if the fish are in deeper water.

·

High Pressure

After the rising barometer hits a high point, the skies are clear with overall bright light conditions. During this time, fish activity is generally slower, as the fish find cover or swim into deeper water. Use slower fishing techniques, such as vertical jigging, to attract bites. You can also use weedless hooks to cast the baits into cover where fish are hiding.

Falling Barometer

When the barometer falls, weather conditions are generally getting worse, with the potential for storms. Fish react to the falling barometer with increased movement and feeding activity. Take advantage of this activity by increasing the speed of your retrieve, to cover more area. You can use crankbaits or spinnerbaits for casting over feeding areas. Focus on topwater or shallow bait presentations.

Low Pressure

When the falling barometer is at its lowest point, weather conditions are rainy and stormy. Fish patterns become less active and continue to decrease as the storm continues. After the storm, focus on bait presentations in deeper depths to attract the fish that have moved to the bottom. Use slow bait presentations, as fish are not actively feeding during times of low barometric pressure.

does any of that apply to the game though does anyone know? or does the barometer icon just for decoration?   I have a feeling that it doesn't do much in game, otherwise I think it would have been included in someone's YouTube guide by now?

I think that the game is more realistic than not but also feel that the FPOverlords seriously need to get someone from DEV to update the wiki with all of this info, seriously how much time would that take??? there is zero info on the wiki for about half the game WHY???...
