ScottsAttack Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 The whole "underwater items" should leave the game. Understanding this is a simulator, you also have to take into account that these lakes are competition lakes. Ever watched a Bass Pro event? Do they catch plastic bags, sticks, hornwart, shells, or anything else you guys put into the game??? No. If I wanted to fish for trash or other undesirables, I'd fish at Joe Bob's pay lake off the interstate. But that's not why we play the game. We play to catch fish. When you add content, of any kind, this should always be the number one thing. We all know there are hundreds of species of fish in North America. If you added more fish, or.... wait for it.... wait for it!..... NEW LAKES, we wouldn't be on here asking about the "underwater items" that are ruining the game/fishing experience that you've created. If collecting this stuff is going to be mission based, count me out. It's Fishing Planet, not Garbage Collector. It must have relevance to fishing. In the new Killer Whale video (from the parts I could decipher) these missions are the next thing? Who is asking for missions involving trash or other useless items? I'm serious! Then I heard something about new fish like the St. Patrick's Day stuff. GREAT! do that instead. Snags only, no underwater items, and more fish.... CRAZY IDEAS I know. I honestly don't understand your company's angle in adding this feature. It minimizes the experience. It does not enhance. I've been a good camper about this game, and have spent hundreds of dollars to make my contribution felt. I guarantee if you offered the option of playing with or without underwater items, over 90% of players would choose the latter. I just don't see how it's justifiable? Are you trying to make an environmental argument here? If so, educate people about what trash and other non organic items do to fish on loading screens, etc. It really stings me to think that someone consciously said, "ok, how can we add something to the game? Oh, I got it... let's add trash and shells, and weeds, and turtles... Oh, and then make missions out of it!!!" Why does this person have to minimize the game for so many. I can't even get a party together to play on PS4 anymore. No one wants to catch items. They want FISH damn it! 5 Quote
Hate_ful Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 I agree to a point . The fact that 90% of the time you get a snag you catch trash . It should be more like 10% then it wouldn't be as irritating . There isnt any reason why this was added before the missions besides to force people to expand storage . If the rewards for said missions is bad its even gonna cause more aggravation to the players . I feel that the time spent on trash and missions could have been used to finish the new lakes or fish behavior mechanics . 4 Quote

I haven't been keeping anything I've snagged because I just don't have the space. This is further aggravated by the fact items don't stack. I don't know how missions will work, but if it's based on quantity of items acquired, no way I'm willing to pay for the amount of storage that will be required. 3 Quote
peeter_panfish Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 Initially I thought the whole idea sounded like a bad one -- to add trash, etc. Then there was a post which included the patch notes (prior to the release of the update). The details, I think, were misleading, and made it seem as if the update and implementation of the underwater items would be better than what it is. At the time, I went as far as to say it "sounds kind of neat." I regret ever having said that because a couple of days after the release of the update, I realized rather quickly that there wasn't anything "neat" about it ... unless neat means, frustrating, irritating, and downright annoying. I could deal with catching a crayfish or a turtle every great once in a while, but the shells, jeez, the shells. I don't even want to fish for walleye anymore, on count of snagging a shell (or shells!) every other cast. The patch note stated that underwater items would not affect the bite rate, and while this may be true, they certainly do affect the catch rate, and effectually, it's the same. You're probability of catching a fish is now lower. Your cast is wasted when you snag a shell, or whatever other item you snag, at 140 feet out. Not to mention, it's common to get a strike right after a snag, but (unless these fish develop an appetite for shells or boots or weeds) that can't happen when there's an item attached to your lure, or when you've lost your bait due to snags. Don't get me wrong, I still love this game, but the addition of underwater items (and how they work) is making me less likely to want to play. And it seems if new content is deterring players, rather than bringing them in, then perhaps that content should be rethought. 5 Quote
Violentvole Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 I haven't been catching a huge amount of crap, but I haven't kept any that I have had. Why should I sacrifice storage for crap that, at the moment, is utterly useless? Of course, this may result in me scratching around trying to catch a boot, 3 types of weed and a bag etc etc every time I fish to fulfil the criteria for these 'missions' once they go live, but I can live with that. J.Mitchell WV Posted June 21, 2018 Report Posted June 21, 2018 Fished the Peacock Bass Competition yesterday evening with tmif. At one point, I caught and drug in trash on four (4) consecutive casts, and countless others times during the competition. Out of the possible 30 minutes of fishing time, I might have actually fished for 20 minutes. The other 10 minutes was spent fiddle fartin' aroung with garbage. That's all I got to say about that. 3 1 Quote
Violentvole Posted June 21, 2018 Report Posted June 21, 2018 Yep. So as I said before, it is actually costing people money. I fail to see where this is going. And I need to see where it is going if they want anymore money from me. As I suspect a lot of people are thinking. 4 Quote

Wildcardx07 Posted June 25, 2018 Report Posted June 25, 2018 My favorite is when youre float fishing and you cast into lily pads and the lily pad you catch somehow consumes your live bait.. 2 Quote
mitderplatte Posted June 27, 2018 Report Posted June 27, 2018 This stuff is getting so annoying.. especially in the competitions, where time is fish, and you only have 30 minutes anyways. Like J.Mitchell said. Anyone tried fishing for muskies with a crank bait lately, at the spot behind the reeds? It's so goddamn frustrating I now invest 15 in-game minutes to ride my friggin' kajak to the spot and get the Brutus out. Reduces the snag / trash / lost bait rate to 1 out of 5 times, instead of 4/5. Man.. On 6/16/2018 at 2:40 PM, Wildcardx07 said: Just caught a brick of cocaine off of Everglades. I put it back though, didnt want the cartel taking me out 1 night while im messing around at Lone Star.. I'd be up for that! Catch a brick, risk a fine, make some money! Maybe an occasional unlimited fishing license somebody lost in the water. A bait coin every now and then.. 2 Quote
peeter_panfish Posted June 28, 2018 Report Posted June 28, 2018 Today was my youngest child's fifth birthday. For one of his presents he received a battery operated fish that swims around in the pool. It came with a small rod that has a magnetic tip attached to the line. When we took him to the pool, he lowered the line in the water and began to fish. After a few moments, he quickly yanked the line out, sighed, and said, "Aw, man! I caught a shell." Lol. When his his first inclination was to mimic catching shells, you know there must be a lot of complaining about underwater items in our household. 2 2 Quote
Hate_ful Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 After doing Top Notch Walleye today i feel we as a community are hurting the lakes environmentally . There soon will be no weeds , shells or sticks left for the small bait fish to hide. So what im saying is turn the BS snag rate down people are getting annoyed and aren't playing as much . The amount of trash caught is way to much even if there are rewards coming with mission it wont help make it fun we want fish not crap. 2 2 Quote
Tmif Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 I think the bite rate for crayfish was higher than for walleye in that tournament. 1 3 Quote
nordak76 Posted June 30, 2018 Report Posted June 30, 2018 I'm going to start a souvenir stand in Michigan, over by the Fairytale dock. I figure with the shells I'm catching, get some glue, some googly eyes, and make caricatures of famous figures. My Alexander "Clam" Bell will make a killing. I figure it will help offset some of the monetary loss from all these snags. 1 3 Quote

Hate_ful Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 Starting to think there never was any mission until all the complaining . Its been a while and still nothing , not even a word . I recall that the beginner mission where close to ready when trashed was introduced and still nothing . So why was this added so early if the so called quests where not even close to being finished . The time spent creating this Crap could have and should have been used on the European lakes or something more useful . Quote
oempie Posted August 5, 2018 Report Posted August 5, 2018 ok, while we wait for these missions to become reality, i`ve been hearing people catching a variety of items, from five year old kids farming shells, to people finding illegal merchandise (bricks n' stuff). Well, i just lifted up from the depths a Chinese certificate for a University in Chicago. (looks fake, tho) Quote
Warchant74 Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 I have been fishing a lot since the last update and all I've managed to catch is weeds. Did a miss an update on the other items like shoes, plastic bags, rags, and lost lures? Quote
Hate_ful Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 No you have been lucky. They did lower the rate of garbage so its tolerable but it shouldnt have been implemented into game if the quests weren't close to being done . 1 2 Quote

Unless the missions are going to be released within the next couple of weeks, I don't see why they don't just set the rate to zero, leaving everything else intact until the missions are actually ready to be released. We all understand how it works and at this point it's not like anybody's still keeping any of it. 2 Quote

kdog013 Posted August 13, 2018 Report Posted August 13, 2018 That's what I was sort of referring to, the plus or minus two year head start over PS4 users before storage was limited. Sorry for the confusion Quote
