I've searched here and in the steam community to try and find out if fireworks have any special effect for the fourth of July event and haven't been able to find anything. I know what they do during the Christmas event, but does anyone know if they do anything for this event? Increased bite rate? More historic fish spawned? If so, does it matter if your in a random or private room, or if it's day or night?

I launched some by accident this morning while taking a few casts before work in a private room, but didn't notice anything different and it was during the daytime also.

I don't know what button it is to set them off, but apparently using your thumb knuckle to rub your eye with the controller in your hand while holding R2 and X to recast works too lol.

I spent a couple of hours alone after the muskie last night and didn't get a historic. I was bait fishing though, I'm really hoping they can be caught on bait as well as lure.

Harder to drink beer while lure fishing 😉

Out of the 30-40 I've caught so far, not 1 firework used. Seen folks light them & not 1 angler hooked an event fish, so they're definitely not used anything like during Christmas event. Personally saving mine till next Christmas event or maybe a big show on the 4th; unless I see proof they increase spawn rate.

I cannot say it isn't possible to catch them while bait fishing -- I do not know for sure --, but based on my own experience, I've yet to catch any with bait, while I have caught many using lures. You may need some sort of stand and a straw ... but, ugh, beer from a straw.

Every reference and anecdote suggests lures.

If I start drinking via a straw at say, 1pm or so I may reach the required buzz level by 7 or 8pm lol.

Doesn't matter anyway, don't really have much interest. When I see my two main guys on different venues, I know the Xmas event was a never-to-be-repeated experience.

Like both of y'all, I haven't personally caught 1 on bait yet. Though earlier today had a guy fishing next to me in Cali for Stripped & he landed 2 (maybe 3) using shiners, but in same time frame I landed like 8-10 with a crank. So hooking 150 (if that's tier 3 goal) using bait seems mighty difficult, not even sure I'll do it using lures cause on my next session the Historic bite rate fell way down (only 2 in the same time frame & weather).

No luck on rainbows with small minnows after catching a few on lures. Bite rate was excellent including trophies, but nothing historic and I'm a noob in need of baitcoins so I had to switch back to lures after 20-30 fish.

From personal experience, you can probably catch the Historic White Crappie float fishing with bait.  For all others lures are the way to go.  Also, the Historic fish seldom bite at night.

The tier 3 goal is 100. Tier 1 was catching your first one, tier 2 is 50 (13BC and star spangled crank), and tier 3 is 100 (50BC and George Washington's hat). I was thinking 150 myself until I searched through the steam forum this morning and realized what tier one was. I think I could've made 150, I'm currently at 78.

Thanks for the correction, after posting & just before landing my 50th a friend mentioned it was 100 instead of 150 & I meant to post a correction but got sidetracked. I believe 150 would've been doable as well for the daily player/grinder, but the casual player has no shot at most the event goals in my opinion. I suggested to most of the casual players I know to go around & get 1 of each for their own records, then go back to their easiest catch & try for the challenges. Congrats on the 50 & best of luck getting those remaining few, in the mid 80's myself (84 I believe) with minimal grinding so hopefully I'll hit 100 as well, want the 50 baitcoins not the hat haha no way I'm taking off my Rowdy Bass hat cause that was a grind.

I wish there was a 150 tier, that would give me enough baitcoins to buy an unlimited Michigan license. I wouldn't take that hat off either from what I've read in this forum. I downloaded this game on March 17 and didn't know there was an event going on or even what an event was for that matter. I thought walking along the trail in Mudwater and finding a pot of gold or silver was just part of the game lol.

Hi all, the fireworks make a difference to my knowledge. I've spent my first 5 days at saint-croix and I caught 1 historical muskie in the first 4 days I spent there coz I didn't know how to set the fireworks of or what their purpose is but there is a purpose and I did learn how to set them of and I've already caught 10 historical muskie using the event striped jerkbait 42g, it cost me 50 coins but it's coin's worth spending. The amount of XP u get is insane. Back to the fireworks thing, the game say that firing them of will give u a better chance of catching historical fish and u don't have to cast while their firing, the effect lasts for a while. I started googling coz I wanted to know how long exactly the effect last but instead found people that says it doesn't work but it does coz it's helping me and I'm fishing in a private room so fishing alone makes no difference instead I feel fishing with other people makes it harder lol coz my first 4 days I spent in a full server and caught basically nothing and since I'm alone I've caught a few. So point is the fireworks work and buying the striped jerkbait is a good investment.
