Where can I find the Unique Redear Sunfish in the Neherrin River?

Hello,
I want to fish for the unique Redear Sunfish in the Neherrin River.
I watch videos on YouTube and use them as a reference.
Everyone is fishing around the coordinates (35.xx, 21.xx) in Into The Rocky Blue.
However, while many trophy-class Redear Sunfish can be caught, not a single unique-class Redear Sunfish is being caught.
Has their habitat changed?

The tackle I'm using is as follows:
Rod:Fenix 450 (14'10")
Reel:LineGlider 4000
Line:MagFin Braid 0.23mm (.009)
Line Length:50cm-100cm (20inches-40inches)
Hook:Barbless Hook #1
Bait:Bloodworms, Maggots, Crawfish Cut

Please advice.

Thank you.

Looks like the right area and tackle for what you want to do, maybe try adding a Fluoro leader and make sure you're fishing during peak time (leeches work as well). (Haven't tried to catch one there lately)

Thank you for your reply, PH_Carpman99.
I will try your advice. 🙂👍

Congrats on catching it!

Question for all -- Is it better to use leaders or no leaders at all?  I tend to not use leaders except for fish with teeth or for lures that I can't afford to lose.

I've seen people who don't use leaders and fish at less than max drag and got better bite rates.  Not sure if fish tend to get scared away from leaders.

Thank you Saberneko. 🙂

I always use a titanium leader because I have had the experience of having my line bitten off by pike multiple times in the past. I don't want to lose any more lures, especially those that can't be obtained again, such as ones received as rewards (from events, missions, or challenges). So, I am cautious. However, I once asked someone who posts FishingPlanet videos on YouTube for advice, and they suggested adjusting the drag so that the line's indicator color stays below orange even when catching fish with sharp teeth, to avoid having the line bitten off. It seems that by adjusting the line's indicator color to be below orange, it is possible to prevent it from being bitten off even without using a titanium leader.
