But the North is never gentle — and the fish that live here are as fierce as the sea itself. To face them, you need gear that doesn’t just survive the conditions, but matches their strength and spirit. You know better than anyone how exhausting a long fight with a true sea-beast can be. That’s why the equipment in this update is crafted to stand firm in the cold, endure the struggle, and rise to any challenge these waters dare to throw at a Brave Angler like you. You’ll also learn about several quality-of-life improvements coming with this update — new Inventory Sorting, easier ways to repair your gear, and more. So let’s dive into everything that’s coming your way! With Skårland Fjord, we’re excited to introduce several new equipment brands to Fishing Planet. You’ll soon get to know Njörinvik™, inspired by rugged Nordic engineering; AquaVolt™, built around state-of-the-art electric technologies; and Tungsten™, a new premium brand specializing in high-performance terminal tackle. And with good reason — some of the new species in this location can reach up to 700 kg. To take on such giants, Electric Rods and Reels will finally make their debut in the game. We’re adding two entirely new equipment categories: Electric Saltwater Bottom Casting Rods and Electric Saltwater Casting Reels. As you may have seen in the previous DevDiary, this waterway is largely designed for bottom fishing — and this powerful new gear is built precisely for that challenge. It enables anglers to withstand extreme loads and battle massive deep-sea predators, reeling them up from the depths with confidence and control. Saltwater Bottom Casting E-Rods Saltwater Bottom Casting E-Rods are made specifically for electric reels, so they can handle the kind of pressure that regular rods just aren’t built for. They’re thicker, stronger, and not as flexible at the top, which gives them more backbone when you’re reeling heavy fish in, like a Greenland Shark, from deep water. Their action is more power-focused, keeping the rod steady when the electric reel starts pulling the line. With that kind of force, a normal rod would wear down fast — that’s why these are fitted with metal roller guides. The handle and butt section are also reinforced, so you can safely place the rod into a rod holder or lock it into an electric reel station without worrying. Sigma F™ Compact and effortlessly easy to handle, Sigma F™ is the go-to saltwater bottom casting E-ROD for casual fishing. It offers a carbon-composite blank that delivers smooth action and great feel when targeting ocean predators. With SmartClick® direct-mount tech, the reel snaps into place in one smooth motion, activating power and data transfer. Reinforced by TorqueArc® architecture, PulseWave™ keeps its shape under stress, distributing force evenly and preventing torsion. Saltwater Casting E-Reels Electric reels are made to take the physical strain out of deep-sea fishing. With one button, the reel can pull the line in automatically, saving you from constant manual reeling. It’s a huge advantage when you’re fighting deep-water species, dealing with powerful fish, or simply don’t want to burn your hands and stamina on every catch. The reel shows its full potential when paired with an E-Rod. You get two modes: manual, which works like a regular reel, and electric, which handles the lifting for you. Saltwater Spinning Rods You’ve already used Saltwater Spinning Rods before, but those were designed specifically for trolling and were therefore longer. Now we’re introducing versions built especially for vertical jigging, where the lure is worked directly beneath the boat in an up-and-down motion. These rods are generally shorter, with a highly responsive blank and a reinforced tip, allowing for sharp, repetitive vertical movements—perfect for lifting and dropping heavy jigs with precision. Midgard™ Midgard™ is a spinning rod designed for inshore and medium-action fishing with the backbone needed for vertical jigging. Built on a responsive graphite blank, it offers the perfect balance of sensitivity and control. StrikeCap® reinforcement at the tip absorbs impact from aggressive strikes and sudden hooksets, protecting the blank from stress fractures. Asgard™ Asgard™ is a high-performance spinning rod perfectly suited for vertical jigging and dominating deep-water predators. New Inventory Sorting As the game expands and dozens of new items arrive with every new waterway, your Inventory inevitably grows too — and we know it has become harder to navigate. That’s why it’s time to begin reworking the system to make managing your gear simpler and more comfortable. With this update, we’re introducing new Inventory Sorting Filters. Each category in your Inventory will now have a filter icon next to it, allowing you to choose exactly how you want the items in that category to be displayed. This gives you more control, faster navigation, and a cleaner, more intuitive experience when organizing your equipment. You can group your items by Name, Level, Hook Size, Weight, Line Capacity, Durability and so on - the available sorting options will differ depending on the category, showing only the parameters relevant to the items within that category. You can also choose whether to sort items in ascending or descending order, and show or hide Subgroups if you want. You can also expand and collapse item groups with a single click. Just tap the arrow next to any subcategory, and the inventory will unfold to show everything inside that group. Tap it again, and the section neatly closes back up. It’s a simple way to navigate large inventories without scrolling through endless lists. We hope the new Inventory Sorting improvements will enhance your experience and help you better organize your equipment. This is the first phase of our ongoing Inventory rework, and additional improvements are planned for future updates. Jigging Lures Saltwater Softbaits Softbaits are trending among anglers who value adaptable fishing techniques. They are made from soft, flexible materials like plastic, silicone or rubber, designed to mimic the appearance and movement of real baitfish, worms, or insects. They are often used with a weighted hook called a jighead. Glowing Squid This squid-shaped softbait glows from the inside, mimicking the natural bioluminescence to attract predators like Halibut. Its lifelike swimming action and realistic profile make it especially effective in deep or murky waters. The glowing body creates a strong visual signal, drawing in fish from a distance. Crafted from durable materials, it's built to withstand repeated strikes and harsh conditions, offering reliable performance and super appeal to any predator. Baby Halibut This soft bait Halibut features a wide belly that adds extra wobble and vibration, instantly drawing the attention of nearby predators. The twin long tails stir the water with every twitch, delivering a smooth, flexible swimming action that mimics real prey. Crafted from high-toughness, eco-friendly PVC, it's both durable and safe for the environment. With realistic 3D eyes and detailed scale texture, this lure looks incredibly lifelike in the water, making it a go-to for tempting picky predators. Twisters This saltwater jigging lure is built to target massive ocean predators like Halibut and Cod. Its shape delivers ultra-realistic movement, even at slow retrieval speeds. The slim profile ensures a fast sink rate, while the wide tail adds a natural wobble that triggers strikes. Glitter-infused paint creates lifelike flashes underwater, boosting visibility in deep or murky conditions. Ideal for both slow and active jigging action. Saltwater Slug Designed to mimic a sand eel, a favorite prey for many bottom-dwelling fish, this long, slender soft bait delivers a super natural swimming action. It features a flexible body and a subtle tail that creates lifelike motion, perfect for tempting Halibut, Cod, and other saltwater hunters. Made from durable soft plastic, this Saltwater Slug is ideal for both casting and vertical jigging. Saltwater Jigheads This saltwater jighead is perfect for rigging soft baits when targeting aggressive predators. Its streamlined shape helps it sink fast and stay stable, even in strong currents. The screw-lock keeper near the hook shank secures soft baits firmly in place, preventing slippage during aggressive strikes or long retrieves. With a low center of gravity, it's ideal for deepwater vertical jigging and typically comes rigged with a single treble hook at the tail. Fish Pilker A metal pilker with a baitfish profile and a rainbow-reflective finish that flashes brightly underwater. It creates strong vibration and visual appeal on the drop, drawing attention even in deeper or murky waters. Equipped with two sharp single hooks on leaders and a lifelike tail fin for strike-triggering movement. Terminal Tackle Torches A torch is a luminous teaser for bottom setups, designed to attract predators in deep, dark waters where light barely reaches. Its bright, steady glow draws the attention of curious hunters from afar. At depths where visibility is limited, this luminous signal becomes a key trigger, turning passive predators into active biters. Colorful Fluorocarbon Leaders Bright fluorescent leaders that remain visible for anglers even in dark or murky saltwater, making it easier to track your rig and trigger strikes from curious predators. Built to withstand abrasion, salt, and toothy fish, they're perfect for tough fights in demanding conditions. Steel Leaders Made from tough steel wire, these leaders are built to handle aggressive, sharp-toothed fish. Their rigid construction resists bite damage and abrasion, making them a reliable choice for high-stress saltwater predator fishing. Saltwater Glowing Mono Lines This mono line is crafted from high-performance materials that provide long-lasting durability. Its deep red color fades underwater, taking advantage of the natural light spectrum to stay less visible. Harder for fish to spot, it creates a more natural presentation and improves your chances of getting more bites. Saltwater Glowing Braids This four-strand braided line offers a smooth, round profile that cuts through the water quickly. The near-zero stretch lets you feel even the lightest bite, while the high-strength PE fibers resist abrasion. A special color-lock coating prevents fading and protects against UV damage, keeping the line bright and reliable over time. Saltwater Golden Hooks These hooks are crafted by Tungsten™, a brand known for premium terminal tackle. A round heavy-duty hook designed for long, secure fights. Equipped with side barbs that lock the catch firmly in place, making it much harder for the fish to shake loose during intense, drawn-out battles. Saltwater Sinkers These solid cylindrical sinkers are produced by Tungsten™. They help your rig cut through waves and stay put in strong currents. Their shape reduces snagging on rocky seabeds, making them a great choice for saltwater bottom fishing. Baits No fishing journey is complete without the right bait. The waters of the Norwegian Sea are home to creatures that can be downright brutal. To match their temperament, we’re introducing a new selection of baits crafted for deep-water predators and the sharp-toothed giants with options like Atlantic Herring, Lesser Sand Eel, Atlantic Mackerel Cut Baits, Bluey, Seal Blubber, Ragworms, Black Lugworms, Peeler Crab, and Razor Shell. For live bait, we’ve added Atlantic Herring and Lesser Sand Eel — both common in the region and well-known to local predators. Herring has that oily flesh and bright flash underwater that big fish senses instantly, while Sand Eel moves just the way northern bottom-feeders expect, making it an easy and familiar target. Together, they cover everything from mid-water hunters to deep-bottom species, giving you reliable bait that actually matches what these fish see every day. The prepared options such as Atlantic Mackerel Cut Baits and Bluey provide tough, oily chunks that create a strong scent trail for Flatfish, Norway Seaperch, European Angler, Spiny Dogfish, and European Sea Sturgeon. We’re also adding a range of natural baits that are widely used in northern saltwater fishing. Seal Blubber, Ragworms, Black Lugworms, Peeler Crab, Razor Shell – these are things local predators feed on every day, so they react to them quickly and predictably. And if you’re an angler who loves targeting sharks, Seal Blubber is a must-try bait — it’s one of their absolute favorites. Repair Kits Even the strongest gear can only take so much when the North decides to test you. Long fights, heavy tension, and deep-water pressure will wear down any setup eventually — no matter how well it’s built. To make sure your gear stays with you through every battle, we’re introducing a new feature: Repair Kits. These kits are a special set of tools that let you fix your equipment right on the waterway, without returning to the Global Map or having to unequip your setup — even during Competitions, Tournaments, or Fishing Together sessions. And for Premium SE series items, you can repair them even after they’ve been fully broken. Just take a few Repair Kits with you on your trip, and you’ll be able to fix any item in your Inventory with a single click whenever needed. If you happen to run out, you can always buy more right away in the Services tab of the Shop. One more quality-of-life improvement many players have been waiting for is now here: after this update, you’ll be able to repair items without equipping them from your Character or from the setups in your slots. When you're on the Globe and need to repair an item, simply click the Wrench icon next to it and confirm the repair — everything will be done in a second, and your items will remain exactly where they were. Valkyrie Fishing Boat To make your time at sea even more productive, Valkyrie boat now features three rod holders per angler, allowing all four players on board to fish with multiple rods at once. This significantly increases how much you can catch within the same amount of time. Just like on the Chamaeleon Catamaran, Valkyrie’s rod holders are fully adjustable — you can tilt them up or down and rotate them left or right to position each rod exactly the way you want. Your catch will now stay fresh much longer thanks to the brand-new, fish-friendly refrigerated storage system. It preserves the quality of every fish you keep, increasing its selling value. When you’re fishing from the Valkyrie and using its top-tier refrigerated storage, you’ll receive a substantial bonus of plus 20% Credits and 20% XP for every fish you land. And with the ability to use four rods at once, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can level up. Something we’ve already mentioned in our previous DevDiary, and our personal favorite feature of this boat, is the new heavy-fish crane, which takes the Photomode experience to a whole new level. Once your catch exceeds a certain weight, you’ll be able to use the crane to lift it aboard and capture stunning photos of the giants you’ve landed. And the best part is that you don't necessarily have to be the owner of the boat - all the guests in the Fishing Together sessions can use it for their big catches as well. Another cool feature of this boat, especially useful for Norway's location, is that it stays stable and doesn’t lose speed in Rough Water Zones. And with the way Valkyrie can break ice and cut through high waves, we’re confidently moving through all development obstacles toward releasing Skårland Fjord in Fishing Planet.
