5ft Crankbaits cause whole game to degrade

Hi guys,

 

Steam user, with full settings @ 3440x1440.  I'm in Texas after being away for a bit, and when I use my old 5ft Yellow Crankbait, the whole game drops to 1 frame every few seconds.  If I exit and come back, my rods say they're not assembled (despite being in green).  If I leave and come back again, rods work, but if I select that Crankbait again (older product from a few years back, when I played), whole game goes bad again.
