Hooking is not affected. Mostly is the reeling after hook with a short line length. Try to switch cast type from Pitch to Normal and cast far away from you.

Yess that's what I do, i mean, they bite but then they fall off... but i have caught a couple of fish now. Hope for the best! I will know more later I guess :)

 

edit: yeahh they're still falling off.

This is really starting to get annoying and wasteing my money!!! I've had the game a little over a week now and the hooking problems continue. Everything ppl have commented above is spot on and I've tried all suggestions mentioned above and others I thought of my own. None of them work. I can be bait fishing or lure and it will only hook certain fish and at times even they come off. I played this on PC before it came out for PS4 and never had any problems hooking, just occasionally and it was my doing.    Please fix this bug/glitch whatever you wanna call it because I just wasted a ton of cash just now trying to travel and fish. I won't be playing anymore until it's addressed and it's a shame 5, 6 of my PS4 friends have gave up as well. It doesn't seem like it's even being looked at by the game dev. I sure hope they are looking at a patch such a great game to let go to waste!!!!

They are working on a patch. They even had one a couple of hours ago but it didn't work. I also gave up and I am actually waiting for the message to come that it's fixed for good. But it is taking very long. And I did get a refund in bitcoins, but to think of all the premium money on caught fish that goes lost by not being able to play. I really hope they make that up by giving me more days of premium. So far I only got bitcoins and no response to the question if I can get the amount of days premium that went lost.

Thanks man. I hope you're right and I know it takes time. I did have it going on my PC and it's brilliant!!! We just need it to work on PS4 now. It's both lure and bait fishing. Gl fixing it and hope it comes soon, please lol

I only discovered the game by accident a week ago, and until yesterday it was fantastic ( I dread to think how many hours I've put in already, I've actually not bothered going fishing for real because this is easier and more fun! ).

I'm sure the devs will get it fixed eventually, because as frustrating as it is for us it must be moreso for them as people aren't going to spend money when a game isn't working.

The amount of posts about this bug should be taken as a sign of how many people love this game rather than a seeming barrage of disillusionment. The devs are working on it and they have my appreciation that fixing something like this isn't simply a case of sitting at a keyboard for 5 minutes or flicking a switch ( although the server reboot thingy earlier worked for a while ).

Could be worse, remember when PSN was down for over a month?

Sorry Killerwhale but the issue is still occurring - fish will attach and be fought for 5-7 seconds and then vanish. If on live bait the message "bait  eaten or lost", if on a lure the fish just vanishes.
